Lots of great weekend stories & more on previous page, BB1 The curtains open on another new page of blurbs..BUT don't forget to take a look backwards as you don''t want to miss a myriad of great news (well, not always for liberals)..on your BROOKLYN'S BLURBS...You give us 22 minutes..we give you the world! quote:
Let's Drill There's oil in them thar hills. by Fred Barnes 05/26/2008, Volume 013, Issue 35 Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, the Mr. Magoo of American politics, stumbled onto the otetruth last week. He discovered the law of supply and demand. "We want to put [more oil] on the market to increase supply and lower prices," Reid said. "With oil and gas prices continuing to break record highs every day, much more needs to be done." Indeed it does. But Reid won't allow it. His understanding of economics only extends to matters in which he might embarrass President Bush. The oil he wants on the market is the oil the administration is buying for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), now nearly full. Reid got his way. The administration now plans to stop oil shipments to the SPR next month. Beyond that, Reid and his party are committed to suppressing increased oil production in this country, as they wait for that magical day when fossil fuels are no longer needed to supply the nation's energy needs. http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/015/104oiivq.asp My recently deceased step- dad was a merchant marine pioneer as he was aboard the Exxon S.S. It was the specially outfitted ice breaker, that could mostly break through the thick Alaskan ice... back in the 70s...back then even, they were planning ways on getting oil out of Alaska...we need to drill. Obama Furious with the Truth - again Election 2008 piece by Sher Zieve Presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama is furious - or feigning fury - with the truth again. This time it is over a statement made by President George W. Bush. The statement made by the president to Israel’s parliament last week included chastising those who continue to call for some types of appeasement to the world’s enemies and included the warning: “As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is - the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.” Until the leftist Democrats again attempt a major rewrite of history, the documented facts are that current Democrat leaders, including but not limited to former US President Jimmy Carter, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Barack Hussein Obama, have each advocated sitting down to talk with our enemies - or have already done it themselves. Obama is angry that President Bush is again telling the truth - and it seems to implicate him. Recently the arguably worst-US-president-in-history and noted anti-Semite Carter sat down “to talk” with the exiled leader of terrorist Hamas - which has vowed to destroy Israel and now publicly supports Barack Obama for POTUS - and Nancy Pelosi sat down to talk with Syria’s terrorist leader Bashar al-Assad. Both of these Democrat “leaders” were operating in a rogue manner outside of US policy towards terrorist and terrorist-sponsoring states. Obama has now joined them with his ‘If I’m elected President of the United States I’ll sit down - with NO preconditions - for a talk with the President of Iran’. And even though Obama’s statements have been widely reported and are contained in videos, he has apparently decided that he wants the American people to believe him and not their lyin’ eyes and ears. The mainstream press agrees and is tirelessly working to protect their Candidate Obama. So much for the truth. http://americandaily.ws/index.php/article/1078 Why Hillary Won't Quit What Does Granting Amnesty Have to Do With Funding Our Troops in Iraq? quote:
China holding 3 days of mourning for quake victims Email this Story May 18, 8:51 PM (ET) By AUDRA ANG BEICHUAN, China (AP) - Flags flew at half-staff, public entertainment was canceled and 1.3 billion people were asked to observe three minutes of silence as China began three days of mourning Monday for the victims of the nation's massive earthquake. Officials asked for the horns of cars, trains and ships and air raid sirens to sound as people fell silent at 2:28 p.m. - exactly one week after the quake splintered thousands of buildings and killed an estimated 50,000 people. Chinese news portal sina.com said the government had ordered all visitors to online entertainment and game pages to be redirected to Web sites dedicated to commemorating earthquake victims. The Olympic torch relay - a potent symbol of national pride in the countdown to August's much anticipated Beijing games - was also suspended during the mourning period. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080519/D90OCVJ00.html For Obama, McCain, a Shortlist on Running Mates quote:

Battling the abortion mentality on campus Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow Planned Parenthood and other promoters of abortion are on or near college campuses preaching their message of death. But a student pro-life group is moving to counter that. In response to the campus prominence of Planned Parenthood, Students for Life of America is hiring field agents who will have the responsibility of forming chapters on campuses in their region. The organization will help to make sure counseling and services are available to women that will convince them to have their babies. "We send field agents out every semester to college campuses identifying pro-life students and helping [those students] start pro-life groups on their campuses," says executive director Kristan Hawkins. The ruling upheld part of a 2003 law that also prohibits possession of child porn. Currently SB 1250, the marriage protection amendment, is languishing in a Pennsylvania Senate committee. Gramley, president of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania, says the situation in her state is similar to the one in California, where last week the Supreme Court decision was announced. According to Gramley, jurists and legislators in both states are bowing to pressure from homosexual activists, which she notes make up only about 2.9 percent of the population. Dems Await Primary Results as Obama Prepares to Pass ‘Milestone’ by FOXNews.com Tuesday, May 20, 2008 Hillary Clinton and her supporters remained defiant Tuesday, as early signs from the Kentucky primary showed the underdog for the Democratic nomination is still able to offer an impressive showing at the polls. Polls close in Kentucky at 7 p.m. ET. Initial results from Oregon, which also is holding its primary, aren’t expected until 11 p.m. ET. Barack Obama appeared ready to capture a majority of pledged delegates once the results of both contests are known. But he told FOX News earlier in the day he hasn’t “declared victory.” http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/05/20/clinton-campaign-predicts-race-goes-on-as-dems-await-primary-results/ quote:
Clinton wins Kentucky, NBC News projects Victory not expected to stop Obama’s march to Democratic nomination Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York won the Kentucky Democratic presidential primary Tuesday, according to projections by NBC News, but Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois remained poised to reach a major milestone: a majority of the elected delegates. Clinton has vowed to continue the fight through the last primaries in early June — a determination that was cheered on by supporters from the WomenCount political action committee, who took out a full-page ad in The New York Times urging her not to give up. But former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota, a key Obama adviser, urged Democrats to unite behind Obama, bringing the marathon primary contest to an end so the party could focus on the November general election battle against the presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain of Arizona. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24714065/ quote:

Multiple sources in Massachusetts with close ties to the liberal lion say his wife of 16 years has long been his choice to continue carrying the family flame in the Senate. Kennedy won the seat in 1962; his brother John held it from 1953 to 1960. Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida, Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, and Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts and a onetime rival for the Republican nomination, have all accepted invitations to visit Mr. McCain at his ranch in Sedona, Republicans said. After a week of campaigning, Mr. McCain is heading home on Friday for three days without a public schedule. His campaign described this as a social weekend that would include 10 couples, and — as has been its policy — declined to discuss any aspect of the vice-presidential search. “We don’t talk about the V.P. selection process,” said Steve Schmidt, a senior adviser. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/22/us/politics/22veep.html?_r=1&ref=politics&oref=slogin Clinton campaign's new strategy ... vote for Chelsea in 2016 Great we might see Chelsea vs. a twin or W's charastmatic 1/2 Hispanic military officer nephew "P'. quote:

The position of Gen. David Petraeus, nominated to assume control of U.S. forces in the Middle East, and Lt. Gen. It was not clear when the children — now scattered in foster homes across the state — might be returned to their parents. The ruling gave a lower-court judge 10 days to release the youngsters from custody, but the state could appeal to the Texas Supreme Court and block that. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080522/ap_on_re_us/polygamist_retreat;_ylt=AkYKNJya4Y_jPG61CfcP2mms0NUE quote:

Stocks rebound after two days of losses Market gets slight reprieve with oil backing off record $135 mark By Nick Godt, MarketWatch http://www.artie.com/20040716/arg-dollar-eyebrows-113x132-tr-url.gif[/img] NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks finished higher on Thursday, regaining some ground after two days of heavy losses, as investors cheered oil's drop from record highs above $135 a barrel and upbeat jobs data. Oil first rose to a new record high of $135.09 a barrel after a report that the International Energy Agency plans to downgrade its estimate of global supplies. But the price fell back $2.36 to close at $130.81, as traders took profit from a four-session winning streak. See Futures Movers. Report: Obama mentored by Communist Party figure Investigations show ties to radicals who shaped him, helped launch his political career Posted: May 22, 2008 11:40 pm Eastern Barack Obama had extensive ties with extreme anti-American elements, including agents of the Moscow-controlled Communist Party USA, in Hawaii and Chicago, according to two new reports released yesterday in Washington, D.C., by two experienced internal security investigators. Investigative journalist Cliff Kincaid and Herbert Romerstein, a former investigator with the U.S. House Committee on Un-American Activities, presented evidence Obama was mentored, while attending high school in Hawaii, by Frank Marshall Davis, an African-American poet and journalist who was also a CPUSA member. Bush asks Americans to pay tribute to veterans with 'moment of remembrance' on Memorial Day Saturday, May 24, 2008 09:02:50 AM President Bush asked Americans to pay tribute to veterans by pausing on Memorial Day for "a moment of remembrance." Bush had several suggestions for how to honor the sacrifices of those who have fought for the United States – place a flag at a veteran's grave, go to a battlefield or say a prayer. He said the moment of remembrance would be marked Monday at 3 p.m. local time. "At that moment, Major League Baseball games will pause, the National Memorial Day parade will halt, Amtrak trains will blow their whistles and buglers in military cemeteries will play taps," he said Saturday in his weekly radio address. http://www.theconservativevoice.com/ap/article.html?mi=D90S21I01&apc=9009 Court allows partial-birth abortion in VA German Couple Loses Custody of 7-Month-Old Son After Posting Him on eBay for $1.60 Junk Science : Global Warming's New 'Consensus' quote:

The AP Maligns Our Soldiers On Memorial Day Weekend By Warner Todd Huston | May 24, 2008 - 14:13 ET It's a happy Memorial Day from the Associated Press as they inform that nation that a few Marines involved themselves in a "shooting spree" in Afghanistan. Yes, the AP makes it seem as if our Marines began "firing indiscriminately at vehicles and civilians" during a March 4th altercation near Nangarhar province. But, a closer read finds a far murkier story and one that seems to say that our Marines didn't go wild but that they thought they were under attack. Whether the Marines were right or wrong about being attacked is the real question at the end of the day. But whatever the case, right at the outset the AP presented the incident as if the Marines were in the wrong. Even the headline casts the Marines actions in the negative: "Afghans appalled Marines not charged in killings." No benefit of the doubt there. In fact, the whole first half of the story explores the charges against the Marines before a single word in their defense appears. Story Continues Below Ad ↓ Afghan officials expressed outrage Saturday at the decision by the U.S. military not to charge U.S. Marines involved in a shooting spree that left 19 Afghan civilians dead in 2007. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/warner-todd-huston/2008/05/24/ap-maligns-our-soldiers-memorial-day-weekend World War II Veterans Are Dying at Rate of More Than 1,000 a Day, Numbers Dwindling quote:

'Now Hear This' By Oliver North NEW YORK -- Aboard ship, every announcement from the bridge is preceded by that phrase. Here in the Big Apple, it's Fleet Week. Set to coincide with Memorial Day weekend, it's an opportunity for the citizens of America's most populous metropolitan area to see and touch the hardware the Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps use to defend this land. More importantly, it is a chance for our countrymen to meet and actually talk with a serving member of the U.S. armed forces. Notably, nearly all of the Marines and sailors aboard the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) and a good number of the guardsmen posted here are veterans of overseas campaigns in the war against radical Islam. Unlike the late '60s and early '70s, when veterans of Vietnam were cautioned not to wear uniforms in public, these young heroes proudly wear proof of their service on their chests. It is equally evident that the Americans who braved long lines and inclement weather to visit this display of military prowess admire the courage and commitment of those serving in uniform. All of this is an interesting counterpoint to what the masters of the mainstream media have been telling us in this very political year. Public opinion polls show widespread disapproval for the war. The major networks and newspapers routinely carry stories about U.S. military fiascos, failures and abuses. Yet none of that is evident in the crowds of civilians thronging around the warriors visiting New York. It's something to be heeded by some who aspire to be the next commander in chief. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/OliverNorth/2008/05/23/now_hear_this quote:
THE PROUD, THE FEW STRETCHED TO ITS LIMITS, OUR MILITARY NEEDS ONE MILLION MEN May 25, 2008 -- For the American Left, there are many reasons to withdraw from Iraq: we're caught in the middle of a sectarian civil war, the Iraqi government is a perfidious ally, Iraq is a diversion from the real war against al Qaeda in Afghanistan, and so on. Some of these arguments are strategically shortsighted, others are based on false premises (such as the fact that the sectarian civil war is over in Iraq and bin Laden is in Pakistan, not Afghanistan), but at least they are more or less logically coherent. What makes almost no sense is the proposal that we turn success in Iraq into defeat so that we can "fix the military." Fixing the "broken" military is a reliable campaign talking point for both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama; the Democrats have embraced the idea that soldiers are a new constituency in their Coalition of the Victimized. Obama's victory speech after the South Carolina primary in January grouped soldiers and their families with "the mother who can't get Medicaid for her sick child," the "teacher who works another shift at Dunkin Donuts" and the "Maytag worker who is now competing with his own teenager for a $7-an-hour job at Walmart." The fix-the-military argument was recently made at greater length by the New York Times. On May 18, the paper's editorialists noted that the efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan have taken a serious toll on the Army and Marine Corps, wearing down not only people but equipment "at an unprecedented rate." Well, the loss rates would not have been surprising to the defenders of Bastogne, the armies at Antietam, or the servicemen and women in any other major war, but it is true that US land forces have been asked to do too much with too little for too long. http://www.nypost.com/seven/05252008/postopinion/opedcolumnists/the_proud__the_few_112367.htm One attack on US soil or some situation w/ Iran/Middle East & we will need to re-instill THE DRAFT...or loose our nation--- I come from fathers & grandfathers,my brothers- that served or serve now..my daughters too old but my nieces, etc. might be considered in a draft....I'm for both young men & women serving. Reminder: Bush Won in Florida Recounts Conducted by the Media By Brent Baker | May 25, 2008 - 19:56 ET With HBO's 'Recount' movie (airing Sunday and Monday night at 9 PM EDT/PDT) sure to rekindle claims that Al Gore would have won if only the U.S. Supreme Court had not “stopped the counting,” a reminder that both recounts conducted by major media outlets in 2001 determined George W. Bush would have won anyway. Two stars of the film have fueled the re-writing of history with actor Kevin Spacey, who plays Gore operative Ron Klain, charging that “the Bush people were trying to stop votes from being counted and the Gore people were just trying to get votes counted” while Laura Dern, who plays Katherine Harris, recalled that the U.S. Supreme Court ruling left her “devastated because there were uncounted votes.” The lead of an April 4, 2001 USA Today story headlined, “Newspapers' recount shows Bush prevailed,” by reporter Dennis Cauchon: George W. Bush would have won a hand count of Florida's disputed ballots if the standard advocated by Al Gore had been used, the first full study of the ballots reveals. Bush would have won by 1,665 votes -- more than triple his official 537-vote margin -- if every dimple, hanging chad and mark on the ballots had been counted as votes, a USA TODAY/Miami Herald/Knight Ridder study shows. The study is the first comprehensive review of the 61,195 "undervote" ballots that were at the center of Florida's disputed presidential election.... http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-baker/2008/05/25/reminder-bush-won-florida-recounts-conducted-media In my humble opinion RECOUNT is a fine drama; very well acted & better than I anticipated. It's Memorial Day, and the good folks at the New York Times thought it appropriate to not only attack the President's position on a new G.I. Supporting the Troops - And Their Children - On Memorial Day By Dr. Paul Kengor When it comes to “supporting the troops,” some Americans have chosen some curious means of expression. Who can forget Senator Dick Durbin’s (D-IL) June 2005 statement from the Senate floor, comparing U.S. troops at Guantanamo to “Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime—Pol Pot or others—that had no concern for human beings?” More recently, bestselling fiction writer Stephen King, reminiscent of Senator John Kerry (D-MA) back in 2006, was inspired to underscore the alleged ignorance of our servicemen: If you can’t read, explained King, “you’ve got the Army, Iraq … something like that.” When criticized for his remarks, King reflexively responded with the standard liberal mantra: he angrily denounced those who dare question his patriotism. Gee, why would anyone do that? Alas, for a genuine example of truly supporting the troops, few expressions are as innovative and moving as a new book by Kathleen Edick and Paula J. Johnson, titled, "We Serve Too! A Child’s Deployment Book." Packed with colorful illustrations and heartwarming, practical messages, this is the first book I’ve seen that is addressed to those who love the troops more than any of us: the children of our enlisted men overseas. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/DrPaulKengor/2008/05/26/supporting_the_troops_-_and_their_children_-_on_memorial_day Where is God in Wartime? According to a formal complaint filed by Judicial Watch, a foundation that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, the commercial is, in effect, a campaign contribution, since it was funded by Gore's Alliance and aired in Pelosi's San Francisco district less than a month before her June 3 contested primary. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=65457 THE WORST speaker we've ever had! 900 Criminal Aliens, Immigration Fugitives, and Immigration Violators Nabbed in San Diego May 27, 2008 10:39 PM EST More than 900 criminal aliens, immigration fugitives, and immigration violators have been removed from the United States or are facing deportation on Tuesday following a three-week enforcement surge by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Fugitive Operations Teams in California. During the special operation, which concluded late yesterday, ICE officers located and arrested a total of 905 immigration violators throughout the state, including 137 here in the San Diego area. Of those arrested locally, 73 were immigration fugitives, aliens who have ignored final orders of deportation or who returned to the United States illegally after being removed. More than 40 percent of the aliens taken into custody in this area had criminal histories in addition to being in the country illegally. Among those arrested by the Fugitive Operations Teams locally was a 30-year-old Mexican national who was convicted in 1997 for robbery and sentenced to four years in state prison. Last year, Cesar Hernandez-Gallardo lost his appeal to remain in the United States and failed to depart after being ordered deported by an immigration judge. ICE officers also arrested a 37-year-old Mexican national at his residence in Escondido, whose criminal record includes a prior conviction for burglary. He was ordered deported last June and lost his appeal to remain in the United States last month. The other criminal arrests included violent crimes for assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking, domestic violence and sexual assault. http://www.theconservativevoice.com/article/32437.html If Barry is elected & the dems get a veto proof margin look for no wall, amnesty & tuition boosts for illegals until they can make them legal! Democrats advised to seat only half of Florida and Michigan delegates By Katharine Q. Seelye NEW YORK: Democratic Party lawyers have determined that no more than half of the delegates from Florida and Michigan can be seated at the party's nominating convention in August, dealing a blow to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's efforts to seat the full delegations from these states. The rules committee of the Democratic National Committee meets Saturday to determine whether to seat the delegates from these states, which were penalized for holding primaries earlier than authorized. Early primaries historically get much more media and political attention. In asking that the full delegations be seated, Clinton hopes to narrow Senator Barack Obama's delegate lead and bolster her argument that she may end up with more of the popular vote in the nominating contests - an assertion that the Obama camp disputes. http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/05/28/america/campaign.php Bolton: Little Alternative to Iran Strike quote:

Matthews's Motor-Mouth Leaves Guests Grimacing By Mark Finkelstein | May 28, 2008 - 18:38 ET I haven't seen Chris Matthews this excited since a Barack Obama speech sent a certain sensation skyward. The Hardball host is in an absolute frenzy over Scott McClellan's allegations. So much so that guests on this evening's show are having a hard time expressing themselves as Matthews expounds at length. Ari Fleischer finally called Chris on it. And while David Gregory didn't express his ire in words, his facial expression left little doubt as to his annoyance at being cut off in mid-sentence. The screencap shows Gregory's grimace. But be sure to view the video here to get the full effect. A bit later, former Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer appeared. He could be seen on many occasions attempting to speak, only to be submerged in a sea of ceaseless Matthews chatter. Talk at one point turned to VP Cheney's involvement in policy-making. Fleischer was again repeatedly frustrated in his attempts to talk, and finally had enough. Obama Praised Wright, Criticized Traditional Black Churches on Homosexuality By Penny Starr CNSNews.com Senior Staff Writer May 29, 2008 (CNSNews.com) - In an Apr. 10 interview with The Advocate magazine, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) said "homophobic" messages are coming from the pulpits of black churches because "most African-American churches are still fairly traditional in their interpretations of Scripture." In the same interview, Obama praised the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright, his former pastor and long-time spiritual adviser, for being on the right side of the homosexual debate. "There's plenty of homophobia to go around, but you have a unique perspective into the African-American community," Kerry Eleveld, news editor of The Advocate , a homosexual publication, said to Obama, during the interview. "I don't think it's worse than in the white community," Obama replied. "I think that the difference has to do with the fact that the African-American community is more churched and most African-American churches are still fairly traditional in their interpretations of Scripture. http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.asp?Page=/Culture/archive/200805/CUL20080529a.html

Petraeus and said his opponents are making it a “sarcastic” and “flippant” political issue. Over the week Obama has been sharply criticized by right-wing bloggers and his likely general election rival John McCain for openly saying he would meet with enemies of the United States without “preconditions” and not reaching out to the general who oversees war operations in Iraq. Obama's communist ties investigated Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 5/30/2008 8:00:00 AMBookmark and Share Barack Obama An investigative journalist and a national defense analyst are accusing Barack Obama of once having ties with members of the Communist Party USA. Cliff Kincaid, president of America’s Survival, has teamed up with Herbert Romerstein, a former investigator with the U.S. House Committee on Un-American Activities. Both have compiled evidence of Obama's past ties with Communist Party figures. Kincaid says while a teenager in Hawaii, Obama was mentored by a Communist Party USA member known as Frank Marshall Davis. "[H]e was a Stalinist agent. Since last year, the Tennessee Department of Education has begun withholding approval of such diplomas, but Representative Mile Bell has been fighting to gain back the recognition these diplomas previously enjoyed. Bell told LifeSiteNews.com that until last year, no person in Tennessee had ever had an issue with an employer for holding a category IV diploma - the official title of diplomas issued to private church-related students, including homeschooled students. Officials say Fla., Mich. delegates will get half-votes WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic Party officials agreed Saturday to seat Michigan and Florida delegates with half-votes, ruling on a long-running dispute that has threatened the party's chances in November and maintaining Barack Obama's front-runner status as he moves closer to the nomination. The decision was a blow to Hillary Rodham Clinton as she was on the verge of watching Obama make history as the first black Democratic presidential nominee. It prompted an irate reaction from boisterous Clinton supporters in the audience and her chief delegate counter, Harold Ickes. Ickes angrily informed the party's Rules Committee that Clinton had instructed him to reserve her right to appeal the matter to the Democrats' credentials committee, which could potentially drag the matter to the party's convention in August. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D910TUN80&show_article=1 When I left for Manhattan at about 4pm, it looked like Fla...was going to give Hil' 100% of Fla...w/ Obama's stamp of approval..not sure what happened but this was a blow to the Clintons, I've also noticed the last couple weeks that Chelsea seems to be less public. How Al Gore is Getting Fat off of a Starving World Always read to the end of the report; that’s where the good stuff is. Case in point an obscure little stat was released on Friday with the not-quite-tantalizing title “Agricultural Prices”. Tables and tables of words with numbers after them – soybeans, price per bushel – wheat, percentage change year over year – imported fruits…exported nuts…you get the idea. If you do the shopping for your family as I do (don’t snicker, I also chop down trees and bench 300), you’re probably not surprised to find out that agricultural prices rose quite rapidly in May. In fact the monthly price changes are beginning to look disturbingly like annual price changes. This is not good. But the really interesting stuff is in the details. Foods seem to be rising in price in direct proportion to their proximity to ethanol subsidies. Feed grain is up an amazing 41% in the past year. Fruit and nuts are down 3% over the same period. Why? Because we turn corn into ethanol, but we don’t do the same with walnuts or bananas. Here in the center of the world economy, this means high food prices. Out at the edges, it means famine. When food gets expensive here, we tap into a little more credit, or perhaps skip restaurants for awhile. When food gets expensive in Malaysia, they riot in the streets. When food gets too expensive in Cape Town, some men take to the streets in violent roving bands, maiming and murdering refugees who’ve come from other countries in search of something to eat. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/JerryBowyer/2008/05/31/how_al_gore_is_getting_fat_off_of_a_starving_world Left-leaning Journalism Group Admits McCain Gets Worse Media Treatment CARTOON: The Carter Syndrome quote:

FISHING DAY IN PUERTO RICO W/ BROOKLYN'S BLURBS.. 3PM/NBC PROJECTS CLINTON WILL TAKE "SIGNIFICANT" LEAD IN THE ISLANDS; TURNOUT NOT AT EXPECTATIONS.. Hillary Clinton will win the Puerto Rico Democratic primary by a wide margin, CNN projects quote:
Clinton easily wins Puerto Rico, NBC projects But low turnout could blunt senator’s push for lead in popular vote SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won Puerto Rico’s Democratic presidential primary by a substantial margin Sunday, NBC News projected. But Clinton’s newly defiant campaign against her own party leaders may have been blunted by low turnout in the island territory. Puerto Rico, once a political asterisk in presidential contests, was seen as Clinton’s last best electoral chance as she tries to build a case that she has won more actual votes during the primary season than her rival, Sen. Barack Obama. She, former President Bill Clinton and their daughter, Chelsea, spent a combined 15 days in the commonwealth hoping to keep her relevant in the contest. Officials here did not expect a large turnout, noting that there were no other important issues on the ballot and predicting that many voters would stay to protest the island’s lack of statehood. So while polls showed Clinton holding a lead, she was likely to win a majority of the commonwealth’s 55 delegates but not get a huge influx of popular votes. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24915524/ quote:

Fears grow that Obama can't win Analysts believe white working class Democrats will defect to McCain if Clinton is not the nominee * Paul Harris in New York * The Observer, * Sunday June 1 2008 With senator Barack Obama poised this week to clinch his party's nomination for President, there are growing fears in some quarters that the Democratic party may not be choosing its strongest candidate to beat Republican John McCain. Senator Hillary Clinton has been making that argument for weeks. Now some recent polls and analysis, looking particularly at vital battleground states and support among white voters, have bolstered her case - even as Obama looks certain to become the nominee. Obama supporters reject this argument and point to his record of boosting Democratic voter turnout, especially among the young. But sceptics in the party, already nervous about nominating Obama after the furore over outspoken pastor Jeremiah Wright, are growing increasingly concerned. Soros Publisher 'Shaped' McClellan's Hit Job: Other publishers don't recognize it as the same book By William Tate An examination of published reports reveals that Scott McClellan's kiss-and-smell betrayal of George W. Bush is a far cry from the book McClellan started out to write and was shaped into an offensive tome by a publisher with close ties to George Soros. To understand how McClellan's literary knife-in-the-back evolved, one has to know something about the book industry. Unlike fiction, a non-fiction book usually hasn't been written before it's sold to a publisher. The author normally puts together an outline and/or synopsis detailing what the book will be about and how it will be structured, and writes 1-3 sample chapters to show the author's writing ability. Hillary Clinton in negotiations for Barack Obama to help pay off her debts Posted by Toby Harnden on 02 Jun 2008 at 22:28 Negotiations are understood to be taking place between the Obama and Clinton campaigns about the Illinois senator helping to repay some of the massive debt incurred by his rival. One of Hillary Clinton’s donors said that the former First Lady’s campaign was as much as $40 million in the red. In a conference call with major donors this afternoon, contributors were told by Harold Ickes, a senior Clinton adviser, that she was unlikely to pull out of the race until the issue of her massive debts was resolved. The New York senator has lent her own campaign at least $11.5 million. One source close to a major donor said: “It’s not about the vice-presidency or any other position she might get. It’s about the money – in particular the Clinton family money.” The Obama campaign might have to reach deeply into its well-stocked coffers in order to secure the full support of Mrs Clinton and her husband Bill in the November general election. http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/foreign/tobyharnden/june2008/cashtalks.htm I understand her advance people have been called off for anything beyond Wednesday...if Barry bites re: bucks..and she can negotiate some power or influence she might be out by Wed..if I was Barry (thank God I'm not) if her & Bill would do a photo op..I would f/u w/ later a pic w/ all the 07-08 candidates that ran against him...& leave Michelle at home & get her a muzzle for the general..but I'm not a dem anymore, so look forward to his trouncing... Die Rich People, Die The Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC) web site has an absolutely horrible kid's game called "Planet Slayer." In this game, kids answer lifestyle questions and the program tells them when they should die because they have used up their "fair share" of the world's resources. The less politically correct kids are, or the wealthier they are, the sooner they are told they should die. Accepting the default, average choices in the games tells kids they should die when they are 9 years old. Yeah, I know you think I am exaggerating. Because this is likely to get pulled down soon, I will show you a series of screenshots from it. Whether it gets pulled down or not, a major media company (with all of its famed multiple levels of editorial control) thought this was a good game for kids. Obama's Alliance with Marxists Rick Moran Erik Ericson of RedState.com has a very detailed article today on Barack Obama's connection to a neo-Marxist political party called the "New Party." (I wrote about the New Party here.) Basically, Obama sought out the group as a result of his work with another far left organization ACORN - a "non-partisan" acvitist group whose members have been convicted in several states of vote fraud. And not only did Obama receive their endorsement, he used many of the party's members as campaign workers on his first state senate campaign: By 1996, the New Party had solidified its ties with ACORN, unions, and the left so much so that even the New York Times referred to it as "leftist." Manning Marable, writing in the left-wing New York Beacon, on October 23, 1996, wrote that "there are four key components in this strategy for progressive political change." Among those components were civil disobedience and "support for independent movements like the New Party which are running candidates in local races. More importantly an innovative approach to electoralism is represented by ACORN's ‘living wage' referenda campaigns." http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/06/obamas_alliance_with_marxists.html Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh baby are we gonna have fun slapping around Barry & his commie, non-Christian preacher friends, pentagon bombers, police station bombers,un-american alliances,Black Panthers & other's from his recent past. WaPo's Capehart: Hard for Media 'Not to Get Swept Up' in Obamamania By Mark Finkelstein | June 3, 2008 - 07:32 ET There's a great moment in the video clip here in which WaPo editorial writer Jonathan Capehart dithers, then palpably decides to bite the bullet and tell the truth: yeah, the media's in the tank for Obama. His admission against interest came in response to a question from Pat Buchanan on today's Morning Joe. PAT BUCHANAN: That brings up the question of the substance of what Clinton said when he talked about the media coming down on Hillary and they're working for Obama, and all the rest of it. Obviously there's real bitterness on the part of Clinton. But is there not, as there was, and the reporters admitted it after 1960, hasn't there been sort of a melding between a lot of journalists and this enthusiastic Obama campaign? The first African-American president, he's young and he's fresh. And all the journalists admitted later: yeah, we were for Jack Kennedy. We loved the guy. We didn't like Nixon. Nation of Islam activists on Obama camp payroll Former insider worried by senator's connection to Louis Farrakhan, members of radical group Posted: June 03, 2008 8:13 pm Eastern JERUSALEM – Sen. Barack Obama employed and continues to employ senior staffers who belong to the Nation of Islam, and the presidential candidate has some "worrying" ties to the controversial group headed by Louis Farrakhan, a former key Obama insider told WND. The former insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed particular concerned that Obama employed at least two Nation members in his early days as a state senator, when his office was staffed by only a handful of workers. "When you're a state senator, you have little money given to you to hire staff. It is ironic that two of Obama's employees in those days were known Nation of Islam activists when Obama employed perhaps a total of maybe three or four staffers," said the former insider. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=66167 quote:
‘High Level’ MSNBC Source: Olbermann Tainting ‘Face of NBC News’ By Rich Noyes | June 3, 2008 - 18:31 ET A “high level source inside MSNBC” tells the TVNewser blog that network stars like Tim Russert and Chris Matthews are “upset” and “****ed” that the far-left Keith Olbermann is tainting the network’s credibility with his “activism,” such as blogging for the hard-left Daily Kos site. “What’s it going to be like in the general election now that everyone knows we’re the in-house network of Barack Obama,” TVNewser’s Steve Krakauer quoted the MSNBC insider as fretting. The source suggested Olbermann was allowed to get away with his activism because the network fears the Countdown host would quit: “They are convinced that he will walk. But the stakes for it are higher than many might imagine Catholics across the nation have been outraged at this priest's behavior shown on TV. But he has long been a thorn in the side of the local Church authorities. Cardinal George earlier had made it clear that Father Pfleger was to keep his nose out of politics if he wanted to keep his position as pastor at St. Sabina's until a permanent replacement was found. But following his TUCC show, an on-line petition requesting Pfleger's removal was started, and yesterday the Cardinal made his decision. Given the history of this congregation since Pfleger arrived their in 1981 and embraced the Black Liberation Theology of Rev. Wright, and its regular threats to leave the Catholic Church, one must assume from the stern language in the official statement that Cardinal George is prepared to face all the negative consequences of belatedly imposing Church discipline on Father Pfleger. http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/06/post_15.html They should kick him to the sidwalk outside the church & turn him over to Satan. Is Ted Kennedy’s Cancer Linked to Cell Phone Use? Wednesday, June 4, 2008 10:00 AM By: Sylvia Booth Hubbard Senator Ted Kennedy’s diagnosis of a malignant brain tumor is, once again, stirring debate over the safety of cell phones. Kennedy’s brain tumor, called a glioma, is the type critics have associated for years with the use of cell phones. Prominent neurosurgeons have stated they do not use cell phones held next to their ears. “I use it on the speaker-phone mode,” said Dr. Vini Khurana, a prominent researcher and an associate professor of neurosurgery at the Australian National University. “I do not hold it to my ear.” Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s chief medical correspondent and a neurosurgeon at Emory University Hospital admitted that, he too, used an earpiece. CTIA – the Wireless Association and the FDA both say that studies show cell phones are not a health risk. Other experts disagree. They point to research that indicates a link between cell phones and three types of tumors: glioma (the type Senator Kennedy has); cancer of a salivary gland near the ear called the parotid; and acoustic neuroma, which is a tumor found near the ear. An Israeli study published last year found a 58 percent increase in risk for parotid tumors among people who relied heavily on their cell phones. And a Swedish study found the risk for glioma and acoustic neuroma doubled after ten years of heavy use. http://www.newsmax.com/health/Kennedy_cancer_cell_phone/2008/06/04/101466.html Scientists revive the debate on cellphones and cancer Obama's Conflicted Message On America quote:

Obama, Black Liberation Theology and Karl Marx By Kyle-Anne Shiver From the outset of his campaign, Barack Obama has declared himself to be a Christian. He has appeared to be the far left's answer to the religious right, the man who would embrace the religion of the majority rather than shy away from it, as Democrat secularists have repeatedly done. For awhile, until Obama's actual "religion" became clear through the rantings of those who have formed his "moral compass", it did appear that Barack Obama would beat the religious right at their own "game." But the foibles of faking faith can be quite the undoing of a man who proclaims to be above the low-road politics of deceit. Religion and revolutionaries Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. Clinton suspends historic campaign, endorses Obama Email this Story Jun 7, 2:34 PM (ET) By BETH FOUHY WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton ended her historic campaign for the presidency on Saturday and told supporters to unite behind rival Barack Obama, closing out a race that was as grueling as it was groundbreaking. The former first lady, who as recently as Tuesday declared herself the strongest candidate, gave Obama an unqualified endorsement and pivoted from her role as determined foe to absolute ally. "The way to continue our fight now to accomplish the goals for which we stand is to take our energy, our passion, our strength and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama, the next president of the United States," she said in a speech before cheering supporters packed into the ornate National Building Museum, not far from the White House she longed to govern from. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080607/D915DASO0.html VIDEO: Hil's Full Speech quote:
"Today, as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary race he has run. I endorse him and throw my full support behind him, and I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me," she said, drawing the loudest boos of the 28-minute speech, although the cheers were even louder. "Today I am standing with Senator Obama to say: Yes, we can!" she said, using her former opponent's campaign catch phrase. http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jun/08/clinton-suspends-bid-endorses-obama/ He's going to have a tough time w/ her supporters like Geraldine Ferraro/old school feminists...& lots of Hill supporters that will switch to McCain or sit this 1 out..unless she's on that ticket. quote:
THE NEW WORLD DISORDER Did they or didn't they? Speculation about Obama, Clinton attending Bilderberger meeting Posted: June 07, 2008 12:22 am Eastern WASHINGTON – Sen. Barack Obama ditched his unsuspecting press entourage yesterday to attend a secretive meeting with Sen. Hillary Clinton. But where did that meeting take place? Was it at the secretive Bilderberg conference in Chantilly, Va.? So far, neither campaign is talking. The 56th Bilderberg meeting is still going on this weekend at the Westfields Marriott, according to various sources. But attendance is a well-guarded secret – along with the agenda, which tends toward the promotion of globalist ideas. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=66442 ^^^Something for CW's Conspiracy Crowd from BB... The Air Force recently issued a security advisory, relating several incidents where military personnel have been approached by individuals expressing themselves as anti-government and shouting anti-war sentiments. Huckabee knows how to save a life By Adam Fogle | June 7, 2008 - 6:24 pm The North Carolina State Republican Convention got quite exciting today — and it had nothing to do with politics. During a pre-event hospitality breakfast, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who was in attendance as the convention’s keynote speaker, was sitting next to North Carolina Lt. Gov. candidate Robert Pittenger when the state senator began choking. Huckabee reportedly noticed Pittenger having difficulty breathing and immediately began performing the Heimlich maneuver. “I’m glad that Mike was in the right place at the right time and continued to lead by example,” Former South Carolina Lt. Gov. candidate Mike Campbell told The Palmetto Scoop. “We all know that [Huckabee] is pro-life, and once again he has lived up to it.” http://www.palmettoscoop.com/2008/06/07/huckabee-knows-how-to-save-a-life/ quote:

Israel tries to play down minister's warning of attack on Iran * Toni O'Loughlin in Jerusalem * The Guardian, * Monday June 9 2008 Israel yesterday attempted to play down a warning from a senior government minister that an attack on Iran was "unavoidable" if Tehran continued to develop nuclear weapons. The transportation minister, Shaul Mofaz, a key figure in Israel's dialogue with the US on Iran's nuclear programme, raised the prospect of a unilateral Israeli attack against Tehran on Friday, adding that international sanctions had been ineffective. The threat, which is at odds with Israel's support so far for an international campaign to curtail and, if necessary, confront Iran's uranium enrichment programme, contributed to frenzied buying in the financial markets, where oil prices soared to a record $139, and sparked an international furore. Yesterday, Mark Regev, a spokesman for Israel's prime minister, Ehud Olmert, said that "all options must remain on the table", adding that "tangible steps by the international community" were needed to "put pressure on the regime in Tehran". http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jun/09/israelandthepalestinians.iran What the Media Didn’t Tell You About Friday’s Unemployment Spike Told ya so.. Evangelist questions Obama's Christianity Chad Groening and Jody Brown - OneNewsNow - 6/10/2008 8:00:00 AMBookmark and Share Televangelist Bill Keller, founder of an interactive Christian website, says while only God knows the hearts of men, he has his doubts about Barack Obama's claims of being a Christian. Keller is the founder of Liveprayer.com. Last year the evangelist challenged former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's claim to be a Christian, due to the fact that he was a member of the Mormon Church, which holds beliefs in opposition to orthodox Christianity. Now Keller is questioning Obama's Christian credentials, based on some statements the Illinois senator has made. "A lot of the things that he is saying really call into question whether he really is a Christian," says Keller, offering up as an example Obama's statement that there are many roads that lead to God. "He has consistently been on record that he's willing to give away part of the land that God himself gave to the children of Israel directly to their enemies," he adds. http://www.onenewsnow.com/Election2008/Default.aspx?id=131168 We should all question his Christianity based on what he would push as a disasterous president, his statements and the pastoral affiliations of Barry & Michelle! quote:

Six Ways Obama Wants to Change America What word does Barack Obama and his supporters keep chanting? "Change!" Like a drumbeat, Obama's chant for change runs nonstop in an endless loop. But how does Obama want to change America if he becomes president? Here are six different areas he would like changed. For starters, Obama received a 100 percent rating from NARAL (a pro-abortion group) in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Why do they hold him in such high esteem? Because he supports every pro-abortion bill that comes along. He wants tax dollars for abortions, he voted against notifying parents of minors about abortions, he supports partial-birth abortion, and he would withhold life-saving measures from babies born after botched abortions. Obama wants no limits on abortion, ever, but he is completely out of step with the majority of Americans. For example, seven out of 10 are against partial-birth abortion -- which is a brutal procedure in the second or third trimester of pregnancy in which babies are pulled feet-first from the womb, stabbed through the skull with a scissor-like instrument and their brains are sucked out via a strong suction tube. Afterwards the dead baby's collapsed head is removed from the mother. As ugly as it is, and as it sounds, in Obama's America it would be routinely done all the way up to the time of birth. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/FloydandMaryBethBrown/2008/06/13/six_ways_obama_wants_to_change_america The Threat to the Car quote:

Mark Levin to Listeners: Defend Talk Radio By Peter Sasso | Yesterday we at NewsBusters noted how Media Research Center President and NewsBusters Publisher Brent Bozell is backing an effort to move an up-or-down vote on the Broadcasters Freedom Act (BFA), currently stalled in the House of Representatives. Later that evening on his June 11 radio program, conservative talk show host Mark Levin issued a warning- urge your congressman to support the Broadcasters Freedom Act, or you risk sitting idly by as liberals led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) annihilate free speech on America’s radio waves. The BFA is a response to the expiration of last year’s one year moratorium of the Fairness Doctrine. That measure passed the House with a 309-vote majority. With so many members of Congress supporting free airwaves just one year ago, one might assume this year’s permanent defense of free speech would fly through the House. Yet the Democratic leadership is blocking the legislation from reaching the House floor for a fair vote because as Levin says "they know it will pass." B*U*L*L*E*T*I*N! 3:40 PM...NBC ANNOUNCES: Tim Russert Collapses & Dies At DC Studio.... DEVELOPING! quote:
NBC’s Tim Russert dead at 58 Washington bureau chief, ‘Meet the Press’ moderator collapsed on job BREAKING NEWS NBC News and MSNBC updated 26 minutes ago WASHINGTON - Tim Russert, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and the moderator of “Meet the Press,” died Friday after a sudden heart attack at the bureau, NBC News said Friday. He was 58. Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” program when he collapsed, the network said. He and his family had recently returned from Italy, where they celebrated the graduation of Russert’s son, Luke, from Boston College. No further details were immediately available. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25145431/ quote:
Tim Russert - 'The Best Journalist In Town' Friday, June 13, 2008 4:01 PM Tim Russert, host of NBC's "Meet the Press" and its Washington bureau chief collapsed and died at work Friday after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 58 Russert, of Buffalo, N.Y., took the helm of the Sunday news show in December 1991 and turned it into the most widely watched program of its type in the nation. His signature trait there was an unrelenting style of questioning, sparing none of the politicians, business giants and even sports figures who appeared on his show. Washingtonian magazine once dubbed Russert the best journalist in town, and described "Meet the Press" as "the most interesting and important hour on television. http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/Russert_obit/2008/06/13/104365.html Russert and McKay Gone: A Week that Changed TV quote:
NBC’s Tim Russert Dies By Katharine Q. Seelye 8:30 p.m. | A Giant With a Small-Town Quality: The wrap for now comes from Ben Bradlee, former editor of the Washington Post, who provided a spontaneous eulogy by phone to Andrea Mitchell in classic Bradlee fashion. Mr. Russert, he said, was “all pro.” “He didn’t take himself too seriously or the rest of the charade too seriously,” Mr. Bradlee said. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/13/russert-dies-of-apparent-heart-attack/index.html?hp VIDEO: Death of Tim Russert: Campbell Brown's Memories Unlike Many TV Hosts, Russert Could Ask Questions from the Right ***SAT. Chris Matthews and Tim Russert: Crass versus Class ***SAT. Chris Matthews is salivating at the chance to run for US Senator in 2010 against Arlen Spector in Pennsylvania. He has made no secret of this. Friday night, MSNBC caught up with Matthews in Paris, where he was vacationing. Asked about his memories of Russert, Matthews had only one story to tell -- about how on the eve of the Iraq war, he ran into Russert and asked him why he was supporting the war, which Matthews opposed. Matthews stated that Russert told him that the possibility Iraq had a nuclear bomb program was enough reason. As Matthews described it, Tim Russert was the representative for many average Americans, and if "they" could fool him (Russert), "they" could fool a nation. Obviously, Matthews was too sophisticated to be in the "everyman" category like Russert, and so harbored no fears about Iraq and WMD. Matthews went on to throw in that "they" meant the neocons, of course, once more smearing those Jewish advisors to President Bush (Doug Feith, Paul Wolfowitz and company), who Matthews has been blaming for the war for six years. http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/06/chris_matthews_and_tim_russert.html VIDEO:The life and legacy of Tim Russert ***SAT. Although a leftie..Tim did help inform & educate us every Sunday...he'll be missed! Happy Father's & Grandfather's Day to all CW members; GOD BLESS YOU!---From BROOKLYN'S BLURBS: quote:
Farewell, Tim Russert By Thomas Lifson Tim Russert, whom I only knew through his work, seemed a good man: hard-working, well-prepared, bursting with energy, and infectiously ebullient. Judging by the farewell he got from his television news colleagues yesterday, he was also a major political figure. One might have thought that a political figure of the magnitude of a one term ex-president had passed away, based on the prominence and amount of time devoted to his death. That Tim Russert rated this level of attention is both a tribute to him and a commentary on the level of admiration he enjoyed in his slightly solipsistic profession. His family has everyone's deep sympathy for their sudden loss. His father, about whom he has written and spoken memorably, faces a fate everyone hopes to avoid, the death of a child. His wife Maureen Orth, whose writing I have admired, has lost her life's companion. And his son Luke, also a media figure thanks to his father's inability to avoid a personal subject about which he cared so deeply, has a profound loss. His cousins (one of whom I know) and other family members also deserve our sympathy, for they also have lost a man who believed in and practiced family ties. Tim Russert actually prepared for his on-air interviews, principally on Meet The Press, by extensive research, and "invented" (according to more than one pundit I saw mourning his loss) the practice of digging up instances where a figure had spoken publicly about a subject in the past, and confronting him or her with contrary words from the past when a position had changed. http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/06/tim_russert_rip.html Recapturing Marriage: How Blue State Conservatism Can Reinvigorate the Pro-family, Pro-marriage Agenda John McCain gets a Father's Day gift quote:

"I did this as a symbol of my commitment to my dad and to represent the faith I have in his ability to be an effective leader for our country and to grow and strengthen the Republican Party when he is elected president of the United States," she wrote on her blog. Afghan President: I'll Send Troops to Pakistan Sunday, June 15, 2008 KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan President Hamid Karzai threatened Sunday to send Afghan troops after notorious Taliban leaders inside Pakistan — an angry warning to his eastern neighbor that he will no longer tolerate cross-border attacks. The threat — the first time Karzai has said he would send forces into Pakistan — comes only days after a sophisticated Taliban assault on Kandahar's prison freed 870 prisoners, including hundreds of militants from the Islamist movement. It also comes six weeks after Karzai survived his fourth assassination attempt — an attack claimed by the Taliban. Karzai has long pleaded with Pakistan and the international community to confront tribal area safe havens, and U.S. officials have increased their warnings in recent weeks that the sanctuaries in Pakistan must be dealt with. http://forums.christianity.com/m_2720371/mpage_15/key_/tm.htm#3526051 Perot Returns, Charts and All Elian Gonzalez Joins Cuba's Young Communists Thank you Clinton-Reno! quote:
Malik Obama confirms his half-brother Barack grew up a Muslim Apparently the Obamas of Kenya have been reading those scurrilous emails to which Barack likes to refer, because they have no doubt -- contrary to the claims of the Obama campaign, that the presidential candidate was raised a Moslem. They take that as a given. As the Jerusalem Post reports, "Barack Obama's half brother Malik said Thursday that if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background. In an interview with Army Radio he expressed a special salutation from the Obamas of Kenya." The Obama brothers' father, a senior economist for the Kenyan government who studied at Harvard University, died in car crash in 1982. He left six sons and a daughter. All of his children - except Malik -- live in Britain or the United States. Malik and Barack met in 1985. http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/12918.htm I had a strange encounter tonight w/ an African-American brother who gave me a pat on the back as we left a store..after seeing my McCain baseball cap & button..his comment was he could never vote for Barack more or less because he questioned his muslim background (& Barry has told this all in varied ways, lying?)..he couldn't see all of Barry's relatives showing up at inaugaration in muslim garb..personally that wouldn't bother me; he also said that Michelle sometimes dressed like a prostitute.......I've had hateful looks from blacks when they see the McCain brand, but also in Manhattan several positives...including a young latino brother that shook my hand ala street style & a young minority teen on the subway that asked me for a button--didn't have one at the time. I just find it very disappointing that many minorities including so called Christians could support such an Obama-nation! quote:

Flags, Fathers, and the Father of Our Country By Jackie Gingrich Cushman This year, the days set aside for honoring fathers and flags fell on the same weekend. Flag Day is celebrated on June 14 of every year. Father’s Day the third Sunday of June, fell on June 15 this year, as close as is possible to Flag Day. This close alignment of seemingly different days provides us with the opportunity to ponder the significance of remembering and honoring fathers and flags, and to contemplate the intersection of the symbol of our nation (the flag) with the person who, without which, we would not be here today (our father). While the 13-star design became the official flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, Flag Day was not celebrated or designated until much later. In 1885, B. J. Cigrand, a school teacher in Wisconsin, arranged for his students to celebrate the flag’s birthday in honor of the symbol of freedom and justice. As Cigrand continued to champion the cause of celebrating our flag’s birthday, Flag Day celebrations became more popular in the late 1800’s. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/JackieGingrichCushman/2008/06/15/flags,_fathers,_and_the_father_of_our_country quote:
Father's Day and biblical manhood Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 6/14/2008 4:00:00 AMBookmark and Share On Father's Day, the theme for many sermons will center on biblical role models. For direction, one need only turn to Jesus, according to Barbara Bernstengel of the American Bible Society. "Jesus set the example for us with the Lord's Prayer, which we begin by saying, 'Our Father who art in Heaven.' So Jesus himself wants us to enter into that kind of relationship with God, to think of God as a loving parent – one in whom we can confide and completely trust," Bernstengel explains. A Christian father will be one who wholeheartedly endorses the Lord and trusts in him, she continues, offering up another example in Abraham, who was told by God to offer his own son as a sacrifice. "Abraham completely trusted in God, and at that very moment when God saw how much he placed his trust in him, God provided the sacrifice of a ram," Bernstengel adds. According to the Old Testament, Abraham then became the father of many nations. http://www.onenewsnow.com/Church/Default.aspx?id=136792 Conservative, Libertarian Differ on Obama's Take of Gitmo Ruling Bush Becoming a Catholic? quote:
Gingrich: Jindal 'Best Candidate' for VP Monday, June 16, 2008 Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is “far and away the best candidate” for John McCain’s running mate on the Republican ticket. Appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Gingrich said former congressman Jindal has been a “spectacular” governor and predicted he would be a presidential candidate in the future. Asked if Jindal, 37, would be ready to take over the presidency if he had to replace McCain, Gingrich said Jindal’s “experience in the executive branch and in the legislative branch is greater than” that of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/Gingrich_Touts_Jindal_/2008/06/16/104865.html Ohio Judge With Posters of Che and Obama, Where's MSM Outrage? Gay couples rush to get married in California Email this Story Jun 17, 7:32 AM (ET) By LISA LEFF SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Hundreds of gay and lesbian couples had appointments to secure marriage licenses and exchange vows Tuesday, the first full day same-sex nuptials will be legal throughout California. From San Diego to San Francisco, couples readied their formal wear, local licensing clerks expanded their staffs and conservative groups warned of a backlash as the nation's most populous state prepared to join Massachusetts in sanctioning gay unions. Unlike Massachusetts, which legalized same-sex marriage in 2004, California has no residency requirement for marriage licenses, which is expected to encourage a large number of couples to head west to wed. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080617/D91BQ3600.html You need a calculator to keep track.... McCain Meets Privately with Fr. Pavone - Says Constitutional Right to Life Applies to Unborn By Deal Hudson (LifeSiteNews.com/insidecatholic.com) - Sen. John McCain reached out to Catholic voters yesterday in Philadelphia at a gathering of Catholic lay leaders and clergy. The meeting, held at the venerable Union League on South Broad St., is one in an ongoing series being held nationwide by McCain and his Catholic surrogates - Sen. Sam Brownback, Gov. Frank Keating, and former Vatican ambassador Jim Nicholson. Before his remarks, McCain met privately with Rev. Frank Pavone, president of Priests for Life. Father Pavone's organization promotes voter education and registration throughout the nation, and his pro-life advocacy has been crucial in bringing the non-negotiable life issues to the attention of Catholic voters. In his prayer before McCain spoke, Father Pavone prayed that the "Lord would let all Christians know they are still His sons and daughters when they are in the voting booth." http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/jun/08061302.html quote:
McCain urges end to ban on offshore drilling Jun 16 04:22 PM US/Eastern By DAVID ESPO AP Special Correspondent 6 Comments ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - Sen. John McCain said Monday the federal moratorium on offshore oil and gas drilling should be lifted, and individual states given the right to pursue energy exploration in waters near their own coasts. With gasoline prices rising and the United States chronically dependent on foreign oil, the Republican presidential contender said his proposal would "be very helpful in the short term resolving our energy crisis." McCain also suggested giving the states incentives, including a greater share of royalties paid by companies that drill for oil, as an incentive to permit exploration. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D91BCOHO2&show_article=1 quote:

Deals with Iraq are set to bring oil giants back By Andrew E. Kramer Published: June 19, 2008 BAGHDAD: Four Western oil companies are in the final stages of negotiations this month on contracts that will return them to Iraq, 36 years after losing their oil concession to nationalization as Saddam Hussein rose to power. Exxon Mobil, Shell, Total and BP — the original partners in the Iraq Petroleum Company — along with Chevron and a number of smaller oil companies, are in talks with Iraq's Oil Ministry for no-bid contracts to service Iraq's largest fields, according to ministry officials, oil company officials and an American diplomat. The deals, expected to be announced on June 30, will lay the foundation for the first commercial work for the major companies in Iraq since the American invasion, and open a new and potentially lucrative country for their operations. http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/06/19/africa/19iraq.php Must be getting safer over there Barry! quote:
Bush to Congress: Embrace energy exploration now By H. JOSEF HEBERT, Associated Press Writer Wed Jun 18, 1:50 PM ET WASHINGTON - With gasoline topping $4 a gallon, President Bush urged Congress on Wednesday to lift its long-standing ban on offshore oil and gas drilling, saying the United States needs to increase its energy production. Democrats quickly rejected the idea. "There is no excuse for delay," the president said in a statement in the Rose Garden. With the presidential election just months away, Bush made a pointed attack on Democrats, accusing them of obstructing his energy proposals and blaming them for high gasoline costs. His proposal echoed a call by Republican presidential candidate John McCain to open the Continental Shelf for exploration "Families across the country are looking to Washington for a response," Bush said. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080618/ap_on_bi_ge/offshore_oil What did the Reid-Pelosi take over accomplish????Nothing but investigations by the 100s... Obama numbered among 'false prophets' Jody Brown - OneNewsNow - 6/18/2008 7:30:00 AMBookmark and Share In a column published last week, Cal Thomas took a verbal swing at Barack Obama's claim to be a committed Christian. "He can call himself anything he likes," wrote the syndicated columnist, "but there are certain markers among the evangelicals he is courting that one must meet in order to qualify for that label." The "courting" that Thomas referred to is the Democratic presidential candidate's "Joshua Generation Project" -- his campaign's wooing of the conservative Christian vote, which in recent elections has tended to favor the Republican candidate. But "Obama is no Joshua," as the column title states. Thomas supports his argument by quoting from an interview the Illinois senator gave to Chicago Sun-Times religion editor Cathleen Falsani. "I'm rooted in the Christian tradition," Obama told Falsani. "I believe there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people." The latter part of that statement, says Thomas, would likely be viewed by most Christians as universalism. http://www.onenewsnow.com/Election2008/Default.aspx?id=141700 It sickens me everytime I hear news figures like on PMSNBC, etc. that pray to statues say what a good Christian Obama is--- & no one can question that! IED-Caused Casualties in Iraq Down 89 Percent Since Surge By Kevin Mooney CNSNews.com Staff Writer June 18, 2008 (CNSNews.com) - Deploying more U.S. troops in Iraq has resulted in a dramatic decline in the number of U.S. troops being killed by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in that country. IED-caused casualties have dropped 89 percent since the surge went full force last June, according to a Cybercast News Service database of Iraq casualties. IED-caused casualties spiked in the early part of last year as the surge began. In January 2007, the U.S. started deploying an additional 30,000 troops to the country. The surge in forces was completed in mid-June. http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewNation.asp?Page=/Nation/archive/200806/NAT20080618c.html quote:
Late Night with Conan O'Brien Yesterday, Barack Obama said that if becomes president he’d replace the White House bowling alley because it’s something he would never use. Not surprisingly, the conference is sponsored by the National Association of Men Who’ve Been Attacked By Hillary Clinton. Gay marriage is now legal in California and yesterday, a lesbian couple who are 83 and 87 years old got married. Witnesses are describing the ceremony as beautiful and the honeymoon as horrifying. Late Show with David Letterman Al Gore has now endorsed Barack Obama. This is great — it gives the Obama campaign a much-needed shot of boredom. You’re getting an endorsement from a guy who won an Academy Award, a Grammy, and he also won a competitive eating contest. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno George W. Bush says that he has some regrets. He says you don’t get a second chance in his line of work. Really? What was that second term all about? Airlines are now charging $15 to check your first bag — $15 for the first bag.
