The thunderous applause was still ringing in his ears when the state's new governor, David Paterson, told the Daily News that he and his wife had extramarital affairs.

In a stunning revelation, both Paterson, 53, and his wife, Michelle, 46, acknowledged in a joint interview they each had intimate relationships with others during a rocky period in their marriage several years ago.

In the course of several interviews in the past few days, Paterson said he maintained a relationship for two or three years with "a woman other than my wife," beginning in 1999.

The race-based, white-bashing rants may not be so uncommon, but is anti-American shouting -- about how “we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye” and so “America's chickens are coming home to roost” -- so common?

Anchor Charles Gibson set up the story from Jake Tapper by asserting Obama “is being dogged by his pastor's provocative comments.” After the “U.S. of K-K-K-A” soundbite, Tapper pointed out how “Wright has played an important role in Obama's life for 20 years.” Viewers then saw a clip of Obama from June of 2007 giving “a special shout out to my pastor” who's “a friend. And a great leader.” Following some quotes illustrating Obama's awareness a year ago of how Wright's views could prove embarrassing, Tapper ended with how such language is not unusual in black churches.

Jeremiah Wright, has defended himself against charges of anti-Americanism and racism by referring to his foundational philosophy, the "black liberation theology" of scholars such as James Cone, who regard Jesus Christ as a "black messiah" and blacks as "the chosen people" who will only accept a god who assists their aim of destroying the "white enemy."

"If God is not for us and against white people," writes Cone, "then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill gods who do not belong to the black community."

Wright has not talked to media since video segments of his sermons over the past decade surfaced last week – including one in 2003 in which he encouraged blacks to damn America in God's name. But in a 2007 interview replayed on the Fox News Channel's "Hannity and Colmes" show Friday, he repeatedly fended off Sean Hannity's questions with an appeal to authority, asking if the host had read any of the books of Cone, professor at New York's Union Theological Seminary, or Dwight Hopkins, professor at the University of Chicago's Divinity School, notes the Asia Times columnist who writes under the pseudonym Spengler."

Wright says of the United States “We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians.” Wright also blames the USA for its being attacked on 9/11/2001 and - like Ward Churchill - says the US “deserved it.”

During his Christmas sermon, Wright commented “Jesus was a poor, black man” (although He was Jewish) who was killed by whites: “The Romans were rich, the Romans were Italian - which means they were European, which means they were white - and the Romans ran everything in Jesus’ country.” Wright then compares Obama’s upbringing to that of Jesus’ and promotes him from the church’s pulpit when he says: “It just came to me with - with - with - within the past few weeks, y’all, why so many folks are hatin’ on Barack Obama. He doesn’t fit the mold. He ain’t white. He ain’t rich. And he ain’t privileged!” Hmmm…I guess Pastor Wright failed to read Obama’s biography.

McCain visited Israel many times as part of Congressional delegations. His first visit was in 1979, when he was not yet an elected official, but a Navy captain, the Navy's liaison officer to the Senate. At the time, he was accompanying Senator Henry "Scoop" Jackson. Israelis, whether out of laziness or arrogance, do not often follow a well-known Washington rule: It is always worth investing even in the low-level members of a delegation accompanying a VIP - the executive assistant, the policy adviser or the escort officer - because at some point they will rise in the ranks of the armed forces, civil service or Congress, and they will remember the treatment they received when they were junior in rank.

The good doctor (who hopefully knows more about his profession than he does about history) has made the claim that the Republican Party “looks like the 1950s and talks like the 1850s.” The 1950s aside, Dean, of course, is attempting to smear the Republicans as a party of racists who are defending systematic public discrimination. In this he displays a shocking lack of knowledge, not only of the Republicans, but also of the shameful history of his own party.

Most liberals today loudly proclaim the Democrats to be the party of minorities and the Republicans to be the party of racist oppressors. I’m reminded of a ridiculous comment from another less-than-aware liberal icon, Bill Maher. Maher commented on one Republican national convention by saying that “the last time the Republicans had that many black people on stage, they were selling them.” Anyone — Dean or Maher — who can make such a statement with a straight face should be sent to a corner with a good, basic textbook (or at least should limit themselves to commentaries on the failures of the American educational system, of which they are manifestly victims).

So, what do Republicans from the 1850s talk like?...........

Jeremiah Wright is a hatemonger. He hates America. It is patently obvious. Barack Obama sought to excuse that today in ways that I found a little bit troubling, blamed it on his generation. Well, he grew up in the fifties and sixties, and that's what America was then. Well, there were a lot of blacks who grew up in the fifties and sixties who have not become Jeremiah Wright. Just because you grew up in the fifties and sixties does not entitle you to hate the country and not try to move forward and build a ministry around it. It's essentially a political movement disguised as a ministry based on the hatred of America. When I watch tapes of Reverend Wright's speeches, I don't see the congregation upset about it. I see them applauding and doing all kind of things. Obama made it plain today, folks, that the future of America rests on one thing, and that's racial division being healed, and which would be great if it would happen. Those of us my age, my generation have been hoping and praying to get rid of race as a dividing issue and as an identity issue in politics and in our culture for as long as I've been an adult, thinking and caring about these things. But there's an entire race industry on the left that will not allow that to happen. You know the kind of people I'm talking about. It's become very profitable for them.

There's a lot of wealth to be generated in the race business. So the idea that America began as imperfect and now only Obama can make it perfect -- well, not only him, but his candidacy is about that. He said at the beginning of his speech, he said we need to perfect the union because it was left imperfect at the time of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, and he said that we all want to move in the same direction. Well, we don't want to move in the same direction. You have to listen to this and read between the lines. Of course we want to move in the same direction of prosperity and health. The debate that liberals and conservatives have had over what kind of country we want to be has never changed, it's just how do we get there. Obama laid it out pretty well today how he wants to get there. He is an ultra-liberal. He sees soup line America in every group of people. At the same time he's talking about ending the racial divide, he still shows us how Democrats see people: The white woman who can't bust the glass ceiling, the black this, the Hispanic immigrant there. He sees everybody as members of groups, while decrying victimology, basically promoted it in his speech today.

The NBPP is a controversial black extremist party whose leaders are notorious for their racist statements and for leading anti-white activism.

The new Kwame Nkrumah Academy, which offers only a static web page with nominal information about its plans, was promoted in the Palm Sunday bulletin at Trinity. It proposes to start offering classes to kindergartners and first-graders this fall.

According to a proposed agreement with the Chicago public schools published last fall, the new academy will be operated by Trinity Community Development Corp., which shares the same street address at the church.

The Sudarium, say researchers, authenticates the more widely known Shroud of Turin, a 14-foot swath of fine linen believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. The Shroud of Turin is familiar to believers and non-believers alike, yet few know of the existence of this separate cloth that has lain for centuries in a tiny chapel in the principality of Asturias, in northern Spain. The linen has only recently captured the interest of the scientific world. Last summer I had traveled to Spain to interview the dean of the cathedral of San Salvador, Don Rafael Somoano, who explained how history and medical science have been unraveling the testimony of the Sudarium. On that occasion it was not possible to view the ancient cloth that contains the Blood of Christ. So profound was my disappointment that it seemed a physical blow. Unexpectedly, in February I received an invitation to return to Oviedo to see the Sudarium.

Or the person exposed might claim somehow it was inappropriate. And it seems with videos speaking against the cult of Muhammad, I don’t know I guess some “sensitivity” rule is leveraged. Perhaps it’s considered “hate speech” to speak against a cult that serves Satan and denies Jesus Christ is Lord.

A year ago the Discovery Channel delivered a cheery Easter message to America’s Christians: Jesus is dead – and we found his tomb.

After much fanfare and hype, The Lost Tomb of Jesus aired on March 4, 2007 to an audience of 4.1 million viewers. The documentary, which was directed by the journalist Simcha Jacobovici (better known as the host of The Naked Archaeologist) and produced by James Cameron (better known as the director of Titanic and True Lies), revealed that the Biblical account of Jesus’ burial in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea and subsequent Resurrection was just wishful thinking. The truth, they claimed, was that the deceased Jesus was brought to his family tomb in Jerusalem, where he remained good and dead.

And Jacobovici and Cameron had the facts to prove it. For example, they revealed a stone ossuary (a repository for bones) that just possibly might have the words “Jesus, son of Joseph” on it. (The handwriting is poor, so scholars disagree on the actual inscription.) Another of the ossuaries has the name “Mary” on it. And another one is inscribed “Mariamene e Mara,” which — if you squint your eyes just right — looks like “Mariamne,” which was used by a writer more than 200 years later to refer to Mary Magdalene. Get it? That fits perfectly with the chronicle of ancient wisdom known as The Da Vinci Code, which asserts that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married! Even more startling, one of the other ossuaries bears the name “Judah, son of Jesus,” who must have been the son of Jesus and Mary (obviously born before Mary rushed off to have her daughter in Gaul, as The Da Vinci Code attests).

The letter, discovered by the blog Sweetness & Light, was published on the "Pastor's Page" of the Trinity United Church of Christ newsletter reserved for Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., whose anti-American, anti-Israel remarks prompted the presidential candidate to deliver a major race speech last week.

"I must tell you that Israel was the closest ally to the white supremacists of South Africa," wrote the letter's author, Ali Baghdadi. African-Americans suffered, many even horrifically, in the past, but Rev. Wright was not one of them.


It happens that, as a Philadelphian, I attended Central High School – the same public school Jeremiah Wright attended from 1955 to 1959. He could have gone to an integrated neighborhood school, but he chose to go to Central, a virtually all-white school. Central is the second-oldest public high school in the country, which attracts the most serious academic students in the city. The school then was about 80 percent Jewish and 95 percent white. The African-American students, like all the others, were there on merit. Generally speaking, we came from lower/middle class backgrounds. Many of our parents had not received a formal education, and we tended to live in row houses. In short, economically, we were roughly on par.............

On March 20, it ran an editorial entitled "Obama's Biggest Hit: His Speech Treated Us Like Grownups." In his Philadelphia speech, the Daily News gushes in praise for what it calls his "great lyrics so well-suited to the discordant melody that is race relations in this country. ... And as thankful as we are for a public discussion of race, we are also grateful to him for injecting nuanced, complicated ideas into the public debate. ... He spoke to the country like we were grownups. And long after the swooning and accolades for his performance die down, we hope the bar he's raised on grownup discourse will stay high."

Then the Orwellian inversions begin. The Daily News is part of that undeserved "swooning" and goes on to praise him for continuing his 20-year-plus alliance with racism, bigotry, insanity and hate: "He didn't throw pastor Jeremiah Rev. Wright under the bus. ... Barack Obama embraced Rev. Wright despite his flaws, despite their disagreements." Why throw the bigot under the bus, when you can throw your grandma under the bus without losing political support from your base? You can't pick your grandma, but you can pick your pastor, and Mr. Obama picked a well-known anti-American, and that tells you what you have to know about him.

The numbers are "not really anything significant," NASA's Josh Willis told National Public Radio recently, also noting that they do show "a very slight cooling." Believers in catastrophic man-made global warming can argue that a short pause in warming now could still be consistent with some doomsday scenario decades hence. As it could be, if we knew for certain. That would be a defensible position in today's debates given climate science's uncertainty.

Even if Clinton did overtake Obama, it would be very difficult for her to win the presidency: African Americans would never forgive her for "stealing" the nomination. They would simply stay home in November, as would the Obamista youth. (Although the former President is probably thinking: Yeah, but John McCain is a flagrantly flawed candidate too—I'd accept even a corrupted nomination and take my chances.)

Which is not to say that Clinton's candidacy is entirely without purpose now that she is pursuing a Republican-style race gambit, questioning Obama's 20-year relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah "God damn America" Wright. Democrats will soon learn how damaging that relationship might be in a general election. They'll also see if Obama has the gumption to bounce back, work hard—not just arena rallies for college kids but roundtables for the grizzled and unemployed in American Legion halls—and change the minds that have turned against him. The main reason superdelegates have not yet rallied round Obama is that the party is collectively holding its breath, waiting to see how he performs in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Indiana.

When we went on the air, the first question the host asked me was what I thought of the speech in general. I told him it sounded like it had been written by a sales trainer.

Interestingly, the host had experience in sales (as do I) as well as motivational speaking. Typically, individuals in these professions use essentially the same formula in their oratory. Such talks generally begin with an introduction and an outline, then move on to the "meat" of the presentation. If the "meat" of the presentation is weak (such as in an unmemorable product that must nevertheless be sold somehow), there is less time spent on this talking point. The speaker then moves on to the Platitudes and Stories phase. This generally involves clichés – on occasion, quite a few of them – which serve as launching points for the stories.

The proof? A video posted on the YouTube page of a web video comedian named Paul "PauLy" Fisher.

Thanks to the release of Barack Obama's income tax records, we are finally able to get some necessary perspective on the big favor Tony Rezko did for the Obamas in buying what has been termed in the press "the adjacent, undeveloped lot". It turns out this is a seriously misleading description.

The Obamas' tax returns from 2000-2005 had personal information blanked out, but strangely enough, the 2006 Form 1040 left in the home address. Thanks to Google Earth, by typing in the Obamas' home address we are able to obtain an overhead view of the Obama mansion and the "undeveloped lot" next door. (We won't reveal the Obamas' home address, as we do not wish to contribute to any danger or harassment they might experience from strangers armed with this information.)

But the matter of the Rezko land purchase enabling their home purchase is a matter of serious public concern.

Politico.com reports Defense Secretary Bob Gates granted Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) a special exception to House rules so she could allow Lauren Azar, the same-sex partner of Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin), on a military flight for a congressional fact-finding trip to Europe. Baldwin and Azar reportedly "confirmed their commitment to each other" in 1998, and one news service says Azar is registered with the House as Baldwin's spouse.

House rules permit members of Congress to take their spouses with them on military flights if there is room for them and when it is "necessary for protocol purposes." However, Baldwin's home state of Wisconsin does not recognize homosexual marriage or the "wedding vows" Baldwin and her partner exchanged ten years ago.

John McCainMiddle East expert Joel Rosenberg says while he shares the concerns of other conservatives about John McCain's views on immigration and other domestic issues, he believes McCain is the right man for the Oval Office when it comes to national security.

Rosenberg says as the presidential race unfolds this year, he believes both Senators Hillary Clinton (D-New York) and Barack Obama (D-Illinois) would put U.S. national security at risk with a cut-and-run policy in Iraq. But on the other hand, he says Senator McCain (R-Arizona) knows what it takes to confront the threat of Islamic terrorism.

The New York Times best-selling author says McCain's troop surge policy -- "that President Bush finally listened to" -- is "working spectacularly in Iraq." And he says "McCain deserves enormous credit for that approach."

McCain is right on another important area of foreign policy, too, Rosenberg contends, and that is Israel. "Senator McCain has been in Israel. He has a strong affection for the Israeli people and understands the dangers of the Holocaust," he points out. "[McCain] understands the world in which we live."
