OK...hogfan...I have waited 2 days for the Ole Sissy, I mean Ole Miss fan to visit again. You know in recent years Miss has had more singers than ball players...some pretty good singers in fact.

But hogfan we better be kind. We have to go to the Grove this year...I was there 2 years ago when Casey completed those 11 or 12 passes in a row in the second half to help us pull out the win in spite of the fact that they pretty much shut down #5 that beautiful saturday afternoon.

Yeh...are you gonna meet me at The Grove this year?...how about NQC?

man i would love to meet you down in oxford...unfortunatly our schedule doesn't allow it :( one of my good friends from college is a fan of the rebs, and we were gonna go with a bunch of other friends but i can't make it :( the only gamr i could go to if i wanted is the auburn game oct 13, but i know for a fact i'm not going :S

you're right, it's good to be kind...but i love my hogs way to much to be nice to the opponent lol all in good christian fun of course!! but it is sad when 9 of 12 SEC teams go to bowl games and the state of mississippi couldn't get one in...NOT ONE!!! the other team left out was vandy and they were a better team than what there schedule stated...just ask houston nutt and all the gator fans ;) oh boy u got me ramblin lol...go hogs!!!! woo pig sooie!! but yeah i'll cya at nqc!! lookin forward to it!!

hogfan...I was at that Vandy game last September in Nashville. You remember. It was the game we won when the famous puff of air blew and helped us make sure Vandy missed a long field goal at the end of the game! what a win!!
ANYWAY, it was the day after our first rehearsal as the revived Prophets Quartet. Johnny Minick had scheduled the singing time around my schedule (since I am the only one that does not live in the Nashville area)...and I had planned to be in Music City to see the Hogs that weekend...SO he got us together at his church on Friday (the day before the game)...as a result, it will always be easy to remember the first time I ever sang with these guys.

A LITTLE PROPHETS' TRIVIA ANYONE ?

It was pretty special. They let me choose the first song we sang in that rehearsal...that was cool. Anybody want to try and guess what tune it was?...I'll give you a hint. It was a great song...a standard in my opinion...made popular by The Happy Goodmans...everyone new it well.
I know it sounds corny, but we all had goose bumps as we sang together for the first time.
Johnny was grinning from ear to ear (not his typical style) and Michael Sykes exploded with excitement (his typical style).
It was quite a moment!...Can you guess the song?

PS...hogfan, it will be good to meet you at NQC!
I posted TPQ's appearance schedule at The Prophets thread.

I'm glad it was "Who am I." I already have a version of "Had it Not Been" that I consider definitive--Eric Phillips' with the Mark Trammell Trio. It's nice on record, but it was really powerful when they did it live at Adam Edwards' church. After he told me about it, I purchased the DVD of that service, and I'm holding on to it tightly.

Now that was really off topic!

DeeAnn...I love it too!

Daniel...Bill Baize really loves it like I do and wants us to stage it
even if we don't record it.

Amerigrammy...Let's add Byrd to the list! Everyone who has lived in AR
is proud of it. You know that!
Byrd is one of Mount's favorites. Thanks for the info.

Yes, he is! I consider him to be one of the top five bass singers on the road today, and the best melodic bass (bass who never growls and generally stays at or above low C).

It looks like the only day they have another booking NQC week is Saturday, so I'm hoping they will be there, too. But they have not announced anything either way.

By the way, if you go to www.blackwoodbrothers.com , and play clip #11 from their hymns project, right at the end, they have a bit of his solo. He sounds good on hymns, but after hearing him live I can't wait to hear him on some SG classics and (even better) some new material!

Daniel...you weren't kidding about a "bit" of his solo on that clip.
Randy did sound good I think? But anyway, I want to find out if he claims
AR as his home and if he's a "razorback" at heart!
...and, oh yeh, I'd like to hear him and them sing.
I take it they are not singing on the big-stage.
Likes us, just so new I guess.

I don't know about the razorback at heart thing, but he certainly does admit to coming from Arkansas! He was a preacher's kid, so he didn't stay in AR his whole life--not sure how long he stayed, but he was with several groups in Missouri and one in Iowa before moving to Tennessee (I think it is) to join the Blackwood Brothers.

Well, he joined this board yesterday, so you could alway send him a private message and ask!

If you admit to coming from Arkansas, then you are a Razorback at heart. It's just something you're born with.

Well let me say thanks to Amerigrammy and Daniel Mount for being so kind to me!!! And yes, I did live in Benton Ar from 1973 to 1998....as Lot said, I took a wife, and she moved me to Missouri!! :) I used to not like saying I was from AR but the older I get the more I
