The new job is good. It is slow getting in there, but things will pick up. There is a lot of opportunity to learn here, so I am excited.

Yes, looking is hard work. I spoke to my agencies yesterday and they seemed positive. I also had my resume sent out to a couple places. I need to make a new resume today for exec admin work so I get jobs while I am looking. Ugh! so much to do, I wish work would leave me alone. :)

I just passed up an interview because the pay was too low. I hate doing that. But I can't take that much of a pay cut with no movement in the near future.

Next time, go ahead and go on the interview. You can negotiate the salary after you are offered the job. If the employer refuses to budge, tell the employer that the pay is too low and therefore you cannot accept. If this happens again, the employer may realize he needs to raise the pay to have a qualified employee. Peace, Anne

I was going to go, then she called me back and asked me what I wanted to make. I make 9 dollars more now than what they advertised in the ad. I was trying to decide if it was better to take a job at a low amount and keep looking or just get unemployment and keep looking. But since it was advertised at that rate, I knew it would be hard to negociate. I mean, why would I answer an ad that I knew would not be paying from the begining. I called my husband and he did not know. At the same time I am up for a temp job making my salary, but the commute is far. Which is better huge pay cut and close to home or Making money and far from home? The market is picky right now, so I may have to take what I can get and then keep looking.

What do you consider to be a far commute? Is it less than an hour? If the commute is less than an hour or so, I would take the job with the better salary. Peace, Anne

It would be the difference of 15-20 min commute or 45-60 min commute. But the one far away would be temp while I look for something else. I had a temp agency ask me for a bio on Friday. I spent all day doing it. I have never heard of this before. And then I just got another one of a temp position. Oh the things that HR makes up to get people jumping through hoops. That was my though. Take the job that is more money, as it would more than cover the cost of gas.

I have an interview! Yeah! I am excited. It is the first big response to my resumes. It is close to home. I am not sure about the pay. It may be a bit of a pay cut, but it is a good company that has been in business for a while and it sounds like a good fit for me. I also found a job opening for a company close to my house that is a perfect fit. I interviewed with them last year, and they needed someone right away, and I could not leave for 6 weeks. I had a good relationship with the hiring manager, so I sent her an email asking her to refer me for the position. I know that referrals get more weight than normal resumes. The lady is out of the office on vacation this week, but they are accepting resumes until 2/4. Keeping my fingers crossed. :)

I am looking at subbing while I am off work. I love kids and I always taught in church and I miss the kids. Is there no work in the area?

Bummer. The interview went good this morning. I have to go back and meet with the manager. The only bad thing is the commute, but the job sounds like a great fit for me.

If it's all right with the company that you are working for for someone to call your supervisor there, I would choose option 3. -- list both the temp agency and the company. That is, if it is not against any policy of the temp agency to do that. (You might get more responses to your question if you started a separate thread.) Anne

You need to list the agency, because they are your employer. You list in your job description who you were working for.

Hello! God is really blessing me! It is funny, I had not really prayed about this whole lay off thing. I just kept saying God is going to open a new door. Then this last weekend I said to myself that I need to pray before I look for job. So everyday I have been stopping and taking time to pray before I look for a job. God has opened up so many doors. I have 3 interviews so far next week. I have one on Monday and Two on Wednesday. I am did an phone interview today and they are out next week, but want to talk with me, and I have the opportunity to interview for a temp job that will last 3 months. I am blown away. I have never found a job in 3 weeks! Well, I don't have a job yet, but I know God will open the right door. He is so awesome! :) So pray for me that the right door will open and I will say the right things on the interview.

Well I went to interview #1 this afternoon. Not sure how it went. I don't have a good feeling about it, as the person interviewing me that I would be reporting to seemed distracted. I have 3 more interviews this week and a phone interview. We will see what happens.
