I pray everything works out for your daughter and her husband Ray. And I'll pray for Tooshy and her peace of mind. I'm sure she knows in the long run, Alex will be so much better off if his parents work things out and create a stable home for him, but she's going to miss him. Tooshy is a good and loving Grandma and Alex is a lucky little grandbaby

It is rather heart-warming to hear so much empathy for Tooshy.

Last night was frustating. Seemed like nothing was going well at all.

First, band practice was cancelled...not entirely unexpected.

The car came back from the shop on Wednesday. I had changed the oil and was headed to church when it started having problems with the brakes. Further inspection revealed a pin-hole leak in a brake line.

Last night I looked at it again, and found the source of the leak. It won't be easy to access.

Then attention turned to staining the deck. The expectation was to get one coat applied to half the deck so that after drying, everything could be moved in order to do the other half later.

Last time I had sprayed on the stain and it worked well. This time the product had been reformulated. While the directions said that it could be applied with a sprayer, it was much too viscous and just oozed out the end. The instructions also said not to thin the product.

I tried thinning it anyway, but it still didn't apply well with a sprayer. After several failed attempts and several incidents of overspray on the siding of the house, I finally gave up.

It was hot and humid. Sweat was rolling off my face and I could see better without the glasses than through the sweat-covered lenses. The sprayer was abandoned for a paint brush. Instead of staining half the deck, all that was accomplished was staining about 25% of the deck railings and none of the deck itself. The mosqitoes had their fill, and I ran out of daylight.

...... don't projects always turn out like that?

I think the TV shows make things look too easy.... why don't they show stuff like that on the home improvement shows???

Because they're also trying to sell products and don't want to make their sponsors look bad.

On the deck it would work, but then you still have to back-brush it according to the instruction. I think I'm going to try to apply it with a deck cleaning brush.

You're worried about instructions?

You, who tried to spray it when the instructions said not to?

No it said you could spray it. Just didn't say you could thin it. Besides...you're right. Who needs instructions?

I hate it when the improve products and it just makes them worse. They supposed to test these things.

Yes, that is his extensive career, now do you want to read the lyrics to "Since I Gave Up Hope I Feel A Lot Better"?
