My neighbors seem to all know how to make a fire in their house without smoking out their neighbors now.

Our city council has decided that they want the downtown area smoke-free to please certain business owners. How they will enforce such a thing is beyond me. I don't know if it will be on the ballot on Tues. or not. I can't figure how it is worth the extra expense of enforcing another law. I do know that the law against smoking inside businesses is being broken and businesses are happy to pay the fines if someone complains. A number of businesses have closed here in Montana since that law went into force. Businesses are failing here that are fledgling new businesses (two years or less in age) as a matter of course now-a-days.

The proposed tourist tax that would tax everyone year-round is and hopefully it will be solidly voted out! The crazy city manager thinks it is a fine idea since it is a fine idea for a richy-rich year-round tourist city north of us. He is from the Spokane area of Washington. Believe me, you don't want to live there! Crime and insanity is running rampant there. You only have to watch their news broadcasts to see it. That is an actually "city" though. We are not. Duuh!

This is a small town and our tourist season only runs from Memorial Day to about mid-August! It is strange to me that we will be asked to vote in a mayor again. Whatever is a mayor for these days? Breaking up fights at city council meetings maybe?

Vote or Be A-float on Tuesday!!!

A skunk sprayed in the middle of the night and the smell seeped into our closed house so bad that it woke us up and we never did sleep soundly the rest of the night. I could still smell it at 8:00 this morning. It was particularly acrid.

I'm glad we are not covered with snow right at the moment but I'm really hoping that God will give us a particularly cold, snowy winter across the continent and especially a rough one on Washington, D.C. !

When I look up at the mountains here, things look normal to me! They are all Wintered-up as usual.

The degree symbol sure is nifty, but I think it would be easier to remember how to type in degree.

Oops! That reminds me.
Does anybody happen know where 30º22'55"N, 51º15'32''W or 57º19'23N, 29º33'19"W 5:00 p.m.

OR 27º 29' S 15º3 8' W some time
or 30º22'55"N, 51º15'32''W

is by any chance? I've been flying around for quite awhile now and I think I've flown over the airport where I was supposed to land. I'm kinda new at this navigation stuff so please bear with me.

I think I am either here

or here or here

maybe here , perhaps over here

or possibly a couple other places like here or here .

But it could be here:
However, I think I should be here --->

Please go in your back yard and start a fire and send up smoke signals if you will. Cook some hotdogs or hamburgers so the grease will send up more smoke and you can have a cookout in the process. If you have kids, perahps they could just set your whole back yard on fire. That would help even more. Otherwise please give me coordinates.
I sure appreciate it.

Best Regards; Rõ©k™

If that happens and I have to endure a particulary cold winter I will probably have to thaw out before I am fond of you again. No telling how long that could take.

I think we should send a search party out for Rocky, but where to send them? Oh well, Rocky, guess you are on your own.

Rock, all I can think to suggest in a hurry is

GPS!

Use the GPS on your phone or that lap-top you were playing on when you got lost!

If all that fails, ask your stewardess!

When and if you get on the ground again, perhaps you could get GPS installed and tied to auto-pilot!

At least you got to vote against the tax. Our City Council has added another 1% sales tax (9% now) knowing full well that the vast majority were against it. So, they chose not to put it on the ballot and passed it anyway.

That is just wrong, Euty. I remember when the street when the area of Billings we lived in protested being forced to pay $1000's per residence for new sidewalk. No one wanted new sidewalk. It was just a way for the dumicrats these people kept voting in to spend the money and say they did something.

If it had been put on the election ballot, the folks were mad enough to vote to just have the sidewalk torn out and forget it.

I have no sidewalk in front of my house here. It creates a fun challenge as far as keeping grass growing there and the weeds down in the Summer but it is so much quieter for us 'cause the kids ride their skateboards on the sidewalk on the far side of the street.

At least no politician is going to insist that anyone has to pay them to have the ground next to the street sodded.

I've just dabbled in the Garmin 1000 on flight simulator. Here's a pretty interesting video. Notice the redundancy, a little bit, that there is already a GPS display built in the plane's avionics already. But look at the obvious difference in screens. Weather display included.

Hee, hee!

I wonder if the GPS works better in planes than cars. I've heard of drivers ending up in the wrong city trying to use their GPS.
Oh! You could try asking a high-flying bird, no?

I came across the following in some comments after a news article...

SKheesh! It seems that I have to make sure I always check the little box when I log in. In less than 2 minutes, it automatically logged me out and I could not post a second time. It took about 5 minutes for me to figure out that I had been logged out.

For the last two days, since updating the browser, updating the AVG to a new version, and allowing java to update, trying to use the Internet has been so aggravating. Last night I realized that the AVG had messed with my browser settings behind my back and I've fixed that and turned off the Surf-shield. That has helped but the thing is still being goofy at nearly every turn.

......ok, that is peachy! I tried to open "more smileys" just now. It didn't and the browser says "done". ...worked that time...I may just start using Internet Explorer more. I am weary of troubleshooting other people's errors with Firefox browser.

'kay....now to see if this will post...

I finally upgraded from IE6 to IE8 a few weeks ago because Facebook kept nagging that it would soon no longer support IE6. On a typical day now, IE8 locks up and makes me crash out of it five to eight times. Sometimes it happens when I try to open a new tab, sometimes when a new window pops up, and sometime for no apparent reason. Yesterday, while trying to correct an error in a post of mine, it crashed no less than 3 times.

I never had that kind of troble with IE6.

When I clicked into the current events folder, which I do every so often (once in a blue moon), I thought the first string said "Sierra Club may want to find God."
I should maybe consider enlarging the type.

I want to share with you something new that I learned about that wacky church that says it isn't anymore (but I wonder if it ever was) near my house...

It actually was a mortuary before being turned into a church. The small room with a sink that was used to wash the dead is still intact.

Ghost stories abound that the building is haunted.

It is supposed to become a soup kitchen next but they are still holding meetings (not church, apparently) every Sunday morning.

Ever was what, wacky? A church...a wacky church?

Turning a building that was previously used for a mortuary into a church is kind of wacky, but turning a building that used to be a mortuary into a soup kitchen is just gross.

What kind of ghost stories? I think you should go check it out and tell us if you see any ghosts.

Rocky, I tried to watch that video, but there were just too many distractions. First I became fixated on what looked like a box in the background with paper flapping in the breeze. Then I noticed how hairy that mans arms were and my mind started to wonder whether he shaved the inside of his forearms. Yeah, well... next time you post a link I will try not to be so easily distracted by trivial things. No promises though.
