Name: Dee or Denise (I'm called either... most friends and family call me Dee)

How long have you been posting/lurking?: Lurking...24 hours... posting 24 hours

What do you enjoy doing?: I love to read. I can never "learn" enough to make me happy. I love to do the "spinsterly" things like knitting, crochet, and needlework. I enjoy spending time with family and friends when I can. Some days I even love my job! Oh yeah... computers too... but that could still be considered my job... I am a Systems Engineer (read: COMPUTER NERD).

Tell us a little about yourself: I'm from a small town. I moved to the big city when I graduated high school, and I never went back. I generally enjoy helping others and being "needed." Although I've been engaged twice, I realized recently that I never "LOVED" them. The one Human I love ended our relationship because he decided that his divorce had been too difficult and even though he thought he was ready for a relationship, he wasn't.

How long have you been posting/lurking?:I'm totally new to the discussion forums, I have been chatting a bit with people for a little while. The discussions here look so interesting though that I can't resist joining this crowd as well.

What do you enjoy doing?:I enjoy doing a variety of things. Really I'm pretty much up for any kind of activity that allows me to spend time with people fellowshipping or reaching out to those who are seeking. I guess most often that includes gatherings at my house or others, going to the mountains, swing dancing, ultimate frisbee, etc......

Tell us a little about yourself: I'm a girl that has moved around a bit growing up. I have just graduated with a Bachelors in nursing. My State Boards are on the 22nd of June, so my major focus right now is looking for a job and studying for that. I'm looking forward to discussing things in this forum, you never how another person's perspective can be used to mold you in to being more like Christ

How long have you been posting/lurking?: Just today

What do you enjoy doing?: Jamming with friends, photography, going to the beach, hanging out with my friends, and catching grunion.

Tell us a little about yourself: I just completed my masters degree in May, I work an hour away as a Training Specialist at a credit union, and spend a lot of my time during the weekends with my youth group. I have free time now in the evenings and am looking to find different volunteer activities to best utilize my time and skills. There are many things I'd still like to learn and hope to continue working out my brain.[/quote]

HI.

I'm from York Co PA

I've been on Crosswalk for about 9 years now.

I don't spend a lot of time in singles as I'm not legally single. I am separated from my abusive husband by just about a month. We have a protection order in place for 9 months.

I have 3 kids aged 11, 8, and 6 that I homeschool and plan to continue doing next year.

Hi, Zoebob. Welcome to Singles! Feel free to join us around here. Sorry to hear you were in an abusive relationship, but I'm glad you're out. If you ever need anyone to talk to, I'm here. Not only have I been in that kind of a situation, but I work with people in that situation too.

I may pop in here more often. I mostly hang out in Home School, parenting, and mod areas.

So far my church has been very supportive. In fact my lawyer is an elder in my church who happens to specialize in family law. It's nice knowing he won't give me ungodly advise. I have 2 friends in church who have been through this: one as the abused spouse and one as an abused child.

I've been up and down as to how I am feeling and handling all this. I'm sure some of the ups and downs relate to my hormones. Today's been kind of rough but I'm doing better after a nap. We were on vacation visiting extended relatives in IL from Sat a week ago till this past Sat. We rode out with my parents and were up late every night and up earlier than normal in the AM. It was a good time and relaxing and my family was all supportive. I have a cousin who is 1 yr into this divorce process. Another cousin who lives in Tx but was visiting last week too who had some abuse issues early on in their marriage but have worked it out.

Welcome to Singles, Zoebob! Although, of course, I'm sorry about the circumstances.

Do you remember me? We're almost neighbors, and I've seen you around the non-single threads before. It's going to be good seeing you around here more. This is where I hang out all the time.

That's fantastic that your church is supportive. Not all churches are. And your lawyer is an elder? He must be worth his weight in gold!

I can certainly relate to the ups and downs. I remember going through more downs than ups for a while, until eventually, I noticed I was having more positive days than negative ones. Having kids helps keep you positive, as does keeping busy.

Well, he's not a very big man LOL

Actually it's great. He will often check on me at church and even answer a few legal questions. He backs up many answers biblically when appropriate. Because this is one of the fields he specializes in he can even predict some of my ups and downs and such. It was important to me to have a lawyer who knew me and I wasn't just another case to. He also has avery bizzare sense of humor that he will use on me when I get too frustrated.

ETA: HEre you can see the members of the firm. He's the short older guy on the right of the front row: Chris Menges
