ORIGINAL: Doveflight You've just returned after a longish sojourn somewhere and you were greatly missed. Let's just say I was recovering from "burn" wounds and needed to stay away from the forums a while. quote:
In the meantime, I removed my husband on a pfa and managing divorce negotiations right now. My children, the two youngest particularly, suffered psychological and emotional abuse and my daughter physical abuse, before i could remove him. Now we have court ordered protection and starting a new life. I see. Thanks for the update. My wife works with situations like yours, except that they have gone further and the women and children need shelter. Too many women don't take the needed steps you have until their lives are in danger. quote:
So consider getting a child at the age of 7 or 9 and where would you begin after adding much prayer......My days from the time they wake until they fall asleep is spent discussing and teaching normal healthy behavior. Sometimes I wonder if it will ever register and if being behind the eight ball can never be overcome. I did! He was 8, unschooled and spoke no English. There is really no way for us to find out how bad the abuse was in the Romanian orphanage, but he was scarred for life. He still refuses to allow anyone but the doctor to see him without his shirt on. He is now 16 and one of the most popular kids in school! Take heart, God is still in control. I will pray for you.

Thanks Doug for your encouragement. I had the understanding you adopted your son at a younger age, that's not to say the damage would still be difficult to deal with. I just became aware that much of what we deal with concerning our daughter and her social skills and learning disabilities is most likely rooted in fetal alcohol syndrome. The descriptions I was reading last night on this great siteFascets for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome hit the target square in the center. I began to have a whole new understanding of our struggles with her anyway. My youngest son seems to be the one of the three with whom my husband built any kind of a relationship because he happens to also enjoy the same activities of my husband. It is a very one sided relationship though centering on husband's interests only. He is mourning the loss of his dad's daily presence.

For those who update their bible from time to time I have been told that for a Christian who has repented they are not to be jailed because there is no comdemnation because of what Christ did on the cross... I know this will take a lot of work to make the needed adjustments in the bible yet I believe it's important... John

BTW... My mother... She used the handle REBA on here, some here might remember her, needs your prayers... She has a very nasty form of cancer... While her heart is right with God, it's very troubling for her, she believes she has so many things to tend to and no time left... I am going to miss her so much... My best friend... Thanks, Saints... John

Praying for your mum John. She is in a hard place to be. My son has been a great support for me. I suggest sharing as much as possible, being open to whatever she needs to tell you, it may be hard to listen and it may seem irrelevant but to her heart it is essential, and help her with anything she needs done or doing. This September I begin my fourth year of survival by the grace ofGod through constant treatment. The life expectancy is around 5 years. There is much I'd like to do, but I am staying in the day given me rather than being overwhelmed at this point. Your mother will greatly need you.

I remember your mother, John. My mother is facing similar "end-of-life"struggles after a recent heart attack. May the Lord be with the two of you as you walk through this difficult time.

We have also had the grim reaper hanging around. Pray for my eldest son. He has been getting calls from his best friend threatening suicide. He is terribly upset over this. He and I will probably be visiting the boy tomorrow. And this morning, my mother told me cancer about the size of a quarter was found in her lungs. The last biopsy nearly killed her. She had a cardiac arrest on the table, so she has decided that she will take no treatment for this and allow it to take its course.

Doug, is there some noninvasive treatment like chemo that can be done for your mom? What are her options? Praying for your son's friend.

She has been fighting too many "terminal" diseases for the last decades and beaten them. Now, she considers her body to be too fragile. Any treatment would cause more damage than it would remedy.

Yet another discussion I was having got shut down because C_ism was mentioned, and a particular flower that was not a daisy. (And it was NOT me this time!) I complained and almost expected to get booted. I feel I am in a very hostile environment here.

I sent Fritz the table of contents from Calvin's Institutes and asked how they could possibly think they could restrict all of these topics in a one-stop thread. He said I am always free to find another forum.

This is so unfortunate, I don't know what else to say. We have lost so many good friends with terrific input on this forum. If you all find another haunting place let me know.

My uncle Walt(Hitch) is forever banned on this forum for calling abortion doctors what they are... Strange place... Hang in there Doug... It's sad they have for the most part dumbed down any debate on Reformed Theology... And it's without a doubt not the favorite subject of those in charge... John

You don't even have to debate Reformed Theology. Somebody was asking for an explanation and we were answering. Just mentioning it will get your hand slapped. Let's remember the real flower of Christian theology, the daisy: God loves me. God loves me not. God loves me. God loves me not.

I'd like something a little more tangible when talking about the here after. I'd hate to spend 30 yrs in purgatory to be bounced in the end.
