Hello!! 
I normally would stick to mainstream horror books (since that is pretty much what i read the most of) when i find good ones that keep my interest. But i am willing to try new things and expand. So has anybody read any horror books by Christian Authors that they have read and enjoyed reading? or A book series?

Yeah, you probably won't find any books in your local Christian book store labelled "Horror". But you will find "Suspense" or "Drama" or perhaps even "Spiritual Warfare", things of that nature.
Ted Dekker.
Frank Peretti.
Randy Alcorn.
Those are the only names that come to mind before coffee. I have only read Peretti, and that was a long time ago.

There's a Frank Peretti book called "The Oath", which is probably the closest to "horror" I've read from a Christian author. "The Visitation" (same author) also has its moments.

Ted Dekker's Thr3e, Showdown, and Obsessed are probably as close as you'll get. They're kinda sorta like Stepehen King, especially Showdown.

The Windows of Heaven novels by KG Powderly have strong elements of the horror genre in them, though they are primarily mytho-historic sci-fi. I've always wanted to write a horror from the Christian perspective, because if you really think about it the Bible says some scary stuff about human nature--monstrous stuff. The WoH website linked to above has a tantalizing little teaser for people like me (and apparently you) who don't think horror is just for the "worldly"...

Terri Blackstock and Wanda Dyson have some great books as well along the suspense/drama/horror as well. A few of the Bill Myers books can be creepy too.
Face of God by Bill Myers was a suspense book that actually goes through some Biblical prophecy and they hunt archaeologically for some things in the Bible...but then there is some bizarre stuff that happens in it as a result of who gets their hands on the Holy items.
Terri Blackstock has several series books...a really good one is the "Cape Refuge" Series.
A non-series book by Blackstock that is along these lines is called Emerald Windows.
Wanda Dyson wrote Abducted, Vanished, and Obsessed (I think--I'm not sure of the title on that one. These are a series and I can't remember the order.

Try House by Peretti and Dekker. It is pretty spooky, although a little mind numbing it has a good story.

Prophecy propaganda disguised as fiction.
I had a friend who used to pound Dave Hunt into every conversation, so I eventually read some of the book mentioned above. That was years ago so please don't ask for details. All I remember is that it kept in step with his other teachings so there were no real surprises.
Nothing personal, ex. It just wasn't for me.

The scariest christian or otherwise book I ever read would have to be Hangmans Curse by Frank Peretti. But seeing how I was only 10 or 11 (I'm Thirteen) It would probaly be fine now.

I would classify the Left Behind series and Frank Peretti books as horror. Those books definitely depicted number 8 definition of horror: "terrifying or macabre events" and maybe number 1 & 4 definition as well.   I still read mainstream horror authors such as Dean Koontz or Stephen King though.

Just for the record, Never Ceese is Christian Horror/Fantasy about a vampire and a werewolf who want to be mortal again so they can once again acknowledge that which will get them to heaven. It is published by a Christian publisher and written by a Christian author. It has recieved rave reviews from both Christian and secular readers alike. Just this month it was placed on the preliminary ballot for a 2007 Bram Stoker Award. God is good! In March I will be attending the World Horror Convention with Nicholas Grabowsky author of Halloween IV and several other horror novevls, as his invited guest. That's how much he liked the book. God willing, I will be on the Final Ballot for that Stoker which will be handed out on that very weekend. That of course is up to God. So there you have it. An attempt to satisfy those who are drawn to the horror genre but don't like being exposed to things they'd rather not be exposed to.

Frank Peretti's "Monster". It might be about Bigfoot. Or is it?
Wallyworld had a small paperback but the larger paperback at bookstores has the maps at the front of each chapter like the hardback. It's sort of about a Christian woman's scary adventure in the woods but there are many interesting characters.

I wouldn't characterize Frank Peretti's books as horror, but close to it. Also, if you like that sort of thing, I read a book by WG Griffeths (I think I spelled that right) called Driven that was pretty good. It may be catagorized as horror.
