Yes, I know what you are meaning, it's not perfect. But even so, you can pour your love into your little girl without it causing problems, she's yours. "Dad" is a big role.

True, but still different. I know there are places to use what I have learned, this is one of them, but I can't use it all until I'm remarried.

quote:

In my case I can't say, "daughter and sister" aren't perfect roles for me, even if I'm capable of more. I've viewed it as being "faithful in little". What has bothered me though is that we say "daughter and sister" are lesser roles... but what I just realized is that a wife and mother serves more, gives more, and that's why it's a greater role... even in family hierarchy, the "greatest among you is your servant."

Sorry typing as I'm thinking...

Works better than my normal method - think after typing.

John,

I have said before and I say again, Michele was a very lucky woman, and your future wife is as well. You said in your post that Michele was the tool that God used to shape you into a good husband...however, you had to be WILLING to be shaped, not all are.

I can relate in part to your struggle to raise a girl alone...I'm raising a boy. It is definitely a challenge.

I'll pray that you find your wife soon.

My thoughts exactly and said better than I ever could.

I know that God will bless you with a wonderful new wife John. She is out there. It's just all about God's timing. Your annointing as a husband will not go to waste. It will even carry you as you nurture other relationships in your life.

You're right..

It is not about desparation, and yes, I'm a widow and when you are a widow/widower, when you lose your husband and wife, you do desparate things which will backfire in the end. I've seen it happen with people who lost their husbands/wives just to find out later in the marriage that that person was not what you think he/she is.

(John, I know you have this heart and desire and yes, I believe God will give you your desire of your heart because you have been faithful to him).

Timing is the key. We cannot work because of our willor Gayle's will or John's will or anyone elses' but we have to be faithful and patient until God gives the Green Light...and then when he gives that light, things does happen...

John, thank you for sharing this all in one place. It is a beautiful testimony to all God has done and will continue to do in your life as you seek to serve and honor Him in all that you do. The faith and hope and joy that you show is, undoubtedly, an encouragement to many, myself included.

Whoever the lucky lady is, she must be thankful for Michele being in your life, because she helped you to become the man you are today - someone who many people here look to for wise counsel in so many areas (and the occasional comic relief ).

I have no doubt that God will honor your desire, more abundantly than you can ever imagine.

Thank you for your willingness to share yourself with all of us here.

wise counsel? Hard to believe. (if so it's got to be totally God doing it. I just show up) Comic relief? OK. (But looks aren't everything )

(hate to bump my own thread as it just seems so vain but want to be sure that everyone gets a chance to read it. (It's save me explaining it all again later) I promise I'll only bump it a couple more times then let it fade away into the recesses of time)

Hey, John, bump away! It's a story worth reading, that's for sure. I think I'll do the same with my Romans 12 thread. I knew when I created it it wouldn't be very popular, posts-wise, but I hoped it would at least get some hits, and I've been watching. It's done well, 80-plus; that's what I was really hoping for. I'm going to bump it and hope for a few more. Thanks for the idea.

OK. I see this is still getting some hits so I'll do my last bump before letting it fade away.

OK I lied. One more bump to say this.

This thread is still getting about 30 hits a day. I'm pretty sure the singles have all seen it so I'm wondering who is reading it. If it has touched you, helped you or even offended you, drop a post or a PM and let me know. (The curiousity is driving me crazy!)

Thanks.

This is the first time I've read your story. Autumn is fortunate to have a Dad like you and the woman you marry is fortunate too.

Any chance you could do a training class with some guys I know? LOL They sure could use some lessons in learning what it takes to make a relationship work. But, I guess that kind of learning comes from personal experiences. Ah well.

Thanks again...anytime I lurk on the boards, your comments always offer encouragement and truth.

Oh Brit - I'll have to send you the links to some of the stuff from the past - You'll see what I'm talking about....I literally almost spit out my drink because of something Husker said. It was priceless. Just gotta figure out which thread it was in......because you see, I've been accused of flirting with someone in all the threads, when we're not flirting........

Very beautiful, powerful and touching story, John.

When I think about widows I usually think about women's sorrows in my experiences and to see a man expressing his love for his bride and at the same time waiting on the Lord for his next bride and writting, expressing it so beautiful is to have a chance to see the heart of a widow man unfolding...and a plead for his fit and proved husband call? It is very beautiful and never ever could think man/men or feel this way.

I for sure not used to see men expressing so clear in emotional situation their feelings, it for sure is very moving and it much touch me to pray for you John and widows men who are waiting for their new wifes may the Lord bring the joy of a godly wonderful partener to each one of them.

God bless you and confort widows, their broken and recuperating hearts.
