I saw the kingsmen Friday night in pottsburo Tx and I will tell you they were amazing. I don't know why they are not reconized as the top group in the industry, they couldn't have done a better job. I believe they are the best sounding group I have heard in a long time and I have listned to many, and by the way the kingmen are my favorite group to.

I've heard The Kingsmen in person many times beginning sometime in the '80's, including twice in the past year. I think Ray is singing his best right now. Yes, he is getting older and may not have the stamina of the old days with Hammill et-al, but his voice has that quality that comes with age to bass singers. Quality wise, I think the entire group is right up there with the best.

By far, they don't get the recognition they deserve! With the present line-up, they are certainly one of the best sounding groups out there. Great song selections too, don't you think? It's easy to see why When God Ran hit the top twenty in two months and in three short months is at number nine on the SN charts! quote:

Quality wise, I think the entire group is right up there with the best. When I saw the Kingsmen at the end of July, one of a number of songs that Ray was featured on was To Count For Jesus. His voice was so powerful on the chorus that he overpowerd the rest of the guys. He also sang Healing Stream, When I Wake Up and Beautiful Home. Ray was so into When God Ran when they sang it that night - and I have to tell you, the place was an oven! The air conditioning wasn't working and if the guys weren't hot enough, then the sun came around the building and baked them through the glass! They gave an EXCELLENT, energetic concert in very uncomfortable conditions .... I think if ever there was a time that fatigue would show, that would have been the time. Hot, humid and stuffy would be an understatement - but they gave such an energetic performance, despite the conditions, that everyone forgot they were hot, sweaty and miserable in the heat. (THANK YOU guys!) Signs of true professionals. They also sang, The Cloud He's Coming Back On, Gospel Road, When God Ran, The Sound From The Other Side and He Knows My Name - their sets were awesome! On the ending of Beautiful Home, Huggy and Ray knocked it out of the park! Phil was stellar on Sound From The Other Side! Bryan owns When God Ran - he'll pierce your heart with the emotion he puts into that song! Edited for clarification.

Is there a good Kingsmen quartet song to use for a video presentation at my wedding? If so, which one?

The concert went good, sound wasn't as clear as it could have been the first half. Erik Ollis played piano with them so that was cool. Harold and Erik ate with us at supper time and it was good to be able to visit with them and to see them in concert together. WE don't get too many concerts where either group comes this far up north so it was worth traveling the 3 hours.

Whoa, Whoa! That's how rumors get started! Eric Ollis FILLED in for us on Saturday in Lebanon, PA last Saturday and Lebanon, MO a few weeks ago. The Whisnants are some of our best friends in this industry and at BOTH concerts, they were booked on the program with us. We asked Jeff Whisnant if Eric could sit in on our set. He said it was fine. Eric is one of the most underrated piano players in gospel music, and a true friend to anyone who knows him. As for The Kingsmen, we are still looking for the piano player that God wants us to have. Until then we will keep looking.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply Eric was trying out with them. I just thought it was great they were all on stage together for Saturday.
