Oh, Carol - that's so sweet about your parents. My mother has dementia - for 3 years now, and it's pretty much like Alzheimer's. I live in the house with them and my terminal brother.

Yep, I know what you mean - I am seriously desiring someone to grow old with too. My folks will be married for 62 year in Jan.

That story is so beautiful and inspiring. My parents are going to celebrate their 64th.

I know I won't reach 64th even if I marry tomorrow, lol. If I do, I'd have to grow old to be 104, lol. Well, not a total impossibility, I supposed.

Hey, how'd the test go? You're an inspiration with all your studying.

Meh! I don't know. I think I did ok, but you never know with these things. The two guys that I met in the elevator were not very happy about it. It was sooo tough. Good thing I had a good "guessing" strategy for when I had no clue for the answers.

I had a revelation though. I guess I always strive when it comes to these things and it stresses me out big time. When I walked into the room, I thought, you know, I will do my best with the knowledge that I've been given or acquired, and if I fail, then, so be it. If I pass, then good. I think that attitude, which really didn't' come from me, helped me to relax during the 4 hour exam.

Wow again! I had to go back to page 61 to find something encouraging for anyone who is just reading along to read! Almost a year's worth of time, too. Nice greetings between folks, for sure, and if that's encouraging to everyone else, please keep it up. I'm just surprised there's not more posts like the below in here.

Wow ... I had to hunt this out and found it on page 6! Since I have been receiving encouragement from friends today, I thought I would share some encouragement too.

I believe this recent funk began when I found out about the passing of my former boss. Coupled with friends, as well as myself, who have been hit recently with unkind words. Words that brought back deep emotional wounds from the past. It made me realize all over again the importance of being kind to one another. Kindness. Words of encouragement. We all need them. We never know what's going on in another person's inner world. Sometimes we think we know someone well ... but do we? We have gotten to be experts at *appearing* happy.

Today, stop and ask someone how they are doing. Really listen to their answer. Is it a quick and simple "fine"? Is it a facade? Do they answer with a smile on their face and genuinely appear fine? Ask again "How are you doing? Really?" It might surprise you what's going on with them. Speak a kind word. Share a simple verse. You never know how that can affect them. Lift their spirits. Just having someone acknowledge them and care can make all the difference to them. You might be the only person who does. Everyone wants to feel useful, needed, like they belong.

Use your words and actions to bless another's day. Hold open the door for someone, offer to help them if they look overwhelmed. What does it cost you? A moment or two of your time? It's a very small price to pay for perhaps allowing another's heart to be a little softer.

I have been blessed tremendously with many friends. They remind me of the love of our Savior, and to stay focused on Him. They bring me back out of the murky waters when I find myself lost and drowning.

God is so good and gracious.

Isaiah 35:3 Encourage the exhausted, and strengthen the feeble

1 Thes 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another

1 Thes 5:14 Encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone

OneJohn, you have blessed me tonight! Thank you.

As you can see from my current signature, I have been reading Ecclesiastes 3. There is a season for everything under heaven. Although we go through some tough seasons, we know that there is another on its way.

Yes, God continues to be good and gracious!!

Hi all,

Sorry to jump into your thread here. I was hoping somebody (female) could help a new poster in the Women Only folder. She asked a question for "older" singles and hasn't gotten a response (other than my non-useful ones). If anyone is able to give her some insight and make her feel welcome, I would really appreciate it.

A kindred spirit! I always check out the prayer request section before I logoff. No one should go without a prayer the day they post a request, in my opinion... even if it's "Dear God, Please help and comfort this person. Amen'.

I'm touched by your caring heart for sisters in Christ, but I know I would be of no help in there.

God bless you and yours,
OneJohn410

Thanks, Ames. How are you?

I was in that folder today and saw that post. I felt unqualified to answer because we had such diffirent life experiences. But I felt what she felt. Thanks for posting here. You should hang out here every once in awhile, too.

Thanks gals, for your help (and OneJohn, for your help "in spirit"). I just didn't want someone new to feel unwelcome or ignored, especially on a Christian forum.

*bump*

This encouragement thread was about to migrate to page 3. I figured the little doggies should stay somewhat close to each other.

Am still the #1 candidate for the position I interviewed for last Monday - am supposed to hear something this week. In the mean time, I continue to send out resumes and fill out applications.
