I can't wait to see where Phosy places her bat. Probably some where around Dudes shoulder also.

Well, I know some of you may be disappointed, but I'm baaaaack!

The tour went well and was very interesting. The Lt. showed us (our mutual friend and I) all around from the point the officers bring the newly arrested in through to the "hole" where the really bad people go. We got stared at, yelled at and all that fun stuff. We saw what each prisoner gets, where they live, what rules they must abide by, etc, etc. Then we talked "business" (how much would I get paid, what are the benefits, what are the shifts like, etc).

What was funny is that even though I've never been in jail before, it was exactly what I was thinking (well, actually a little quieter than I was thinking - but she said it was much quieter than normal). It was funny to watch my friend's reactions though. When we were walking past the holding cells, she leans over with her eyes popping out - "There are PEOPLE in there!". All I could think was, well, yeah. It's a jail. That's why the cells are there.... Then we would walk down the hall and an inmate would pass by and say hi to the Lt. I think my friend wanted to crawl under the floor tiles.

A lot to think about. I could see myself doing it though. Maybe not for the rest of my life but as a step in a process. It would certainly be, ummmm, entertaining.... The entire time, I kept thinking this is like taking the meanest, nastiest folks I cared for in the nursing homes, multiplying them by about 700 and putting them all together in small cells. I understand why they say it's never dull...

Well I'm certainly glad you enjoyed the experience... And I'm glad that we didn't have to raise bail for you.

I was too.... I felt like taking a shower when I came home though... I'm sitting there looking at the clothes you wear, the blanket you would have to use and all I could think was I hope they use lots and lots and lots of bleach when they launder those...

It was... Seriously, I think that would be the worst part of ever getting arrested... And I'm not a germ-phobe in the least...

Hi Kristin.

Glad you got to go to jail. Umm, that doesn't sound right. You know what I mean though.

Hi Kristin.

Yep!

It's funny because as she was walking us through the process, I kept thinking, if I was ever arrested, I'd be bawling my head off the entire time.

At the time, it was super slow - there was only one guy in the booking area. Here he is chatting with the Lt (apparently he's a regular ) about why he'd been arrested this time kind of like how I would tell people about what I'll be doing for the weekend.

It's a different world out there...

As I read your account, I thought of nursing homes too. When I lived in a nursing home, I felt like a prisoner.

As bad as the nursing home was, this was much, much worse. Like I posted earlier, it's an entirely different world. If I had to choose between being a resident in a nursing home and being an inmate in the jail, I'd pick the nursing home without hesitation.

The Lt. said the women inmates were the worst. After she described the stuff that goes on with them, I blurted out: "That sounds like 3rd grade." She started laughing and replied - "Exactly!".

Only these are adults...

Well, the first of the yarn I ordered has come in! Yeah! I'm hoping to start extra early on Christmas gifts. We'll see how that goes...

Thanks! I always do!

Well, today was one of those days that I just couldn't get out of bed in the morning so I skipped my run. Now I'm counting down until I can go home... I just feel super lazy and I don't know why. What is that saying? I think my get up and go, got up and went...
