Really? I knew the call center would be open but the appraisal place surprises me.

Well, the appraisers are going to have a long weekend next weekend instead of this weekend. This weekend was too busy still trying to catch up on the backlog of orders.

I'd probably send a terse note when I sent back the additional fee. But don't do what I'd do.

On the bottom of their letter that they said to send back I wrote, "I have written a new check for $51.25 and attached it to the application. For your information, the application on your website still says the background check fee is $45. I would appreciate it if you would expedite my application, as I do not feel this error is my fault.

I will also say this about my application. I wondered why neither of my checks had been deposited yet. I thought with being the government and all they would have wanted my money in their account ASAP.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
We tried to go to the Rib Cookoff tonight. We spent like 40 minutes trying to find parking and couldn't find any. So instead we went to my favorite Reno pizza chain, which I actually haven't been to in quite a while.
Not sure exactly what we will do tomorrow. We are thinking about going to this zoo-like place I have never been to before. Also we plan to go to the rib cookoff at a non-peak time like 3 PM.
LOL Kath, I think I would too.
Okay, just read what you wrote on the bottom of the application you sent with new check. Good for you.
Congrats on your new vehicle.
You too Brandy...I mean Isabel
Hope you get to have your ribs tomorrow. I am going to church and then to my sil's house for a little bit. I spent some time with Josh & 'Noush early evening and they have gone home to Pewaukee now and are completely done with things in Oshkosh.
How's your back doing today? Mine has been a little out of whack lately too, but part of it is shoes. *sigh*
Kath, I love that pic of you and Larry.
Brandy ~ hope you enjoy your new car!
Hi Kath and Sharon!
My back is doing better since I haven't been to the call center in two days. Those chairs there are killing me. There is one old lady who brought her own chair for work and every day she wheels it in and out of the training room. I am thinking she is quite smart.
I thought my eye was better, then today I pulled down my lower lid to put in a contact and now my eye is "broken" again. Arg! Matt's dad said that I should re-discontinue the use of my contacts. Arg! I cannot see very well in my glasses, and I do not know why that is since they are supposed to be the same perscription as my contacts. And every day I have worn the glasses someone asks me, "Did you get new glasses." No, I just don't wear them out of the house usually.
We went to the rib cookoff today. It was pretty good, but I wish there was a more cleanly place to sit while we ate. We will most likely go again tomorrow.
We also went and saw Kung Fu Panda at the discount theature. I thought it was pretty dumb.
You know what is weird? Today (Saturday) the high was 94*. Tomorrow (Sunday) the high is supposed to be 76*, and Monday the high is supposed to be 71*. When I heard the weather broadcast on my Subaru say that I thought it must be wrong. But now I have gone to another weather website and it says the same thing. Huh. Then the middle of next week is supposed to be back in the high 80's. I wonder why momentary drop?
Next weekend we are going to see Bill Cosby since Matt's parents have free tickets. That should be pretty cool.
I guess that is all for now.
Sunday was a good day.
We went to this animal sanctuary out in the middle of no where. I am glad we went and got to see it. One of the funniest things that happened was with this Canadian lynx named Micah. I said, "Hi Micah, how's it hanging?" and he actually growled at me. Matt said, "I guess it's not hanging very well."
They have this black bear named Amy who kept dunking one paw in her water troft, licking off the water, and then dunking her paw in again to repeat. Not sure why she kept doing that.
After the animal place we went to the rib cook off again. We had some good ribs, and I also had some beer battered mushrooms and a chocolate dipped fruit kabob.
We spent the rest of the day at home. We recorded most all of the Olympics so we are slowly making our way through those. Tonight we saw Michael Phelps win his 7th and 8th gold medals. (yes, we are that far behind). For a while I really didn't think he actually won that 7th one.
I made some oatmeal cookies with mini M&M baking bits, chocolate chips, and chopped pecans. They are not my best work ever but they are not bad. I plan to take some to some of my call center coworkers.
Ah, it was so nice to enjoy a real weekend. I wish I had a few more days to tack on to this weekend where Matt and I could stay home or do stuff locally.
It got quite cool here today. The house fans stayed off for 95% of the day. Usually the front door of my house sticks pretty badly, and tonight it just opened right up. I thought when I first walked outside tonight that I saw my breath, but I don't think it is quite cold enough for that yet. The current temp at 3:35 AM is 49*.
Monday is my last day with the kittens, as they are going back to the Humane Society early Tuesday morning. I am going to miss them. I feel sad for them thinking that it will probably be confusing to have lived at my house for a month then they have to go back to the HS and then they will be in someone new's home.
Yeah, that would be the really hard part for me doing the foster thing. I would probably keep them and more until there was a national news story about a woman in Wisconsin who was found with 500 cats. That's why I am going "petless" for now.
Glad you got some good ribs on your second trip back to the Rib off. I didn't eat anything "special" yesterday and I doubt if I will today.
Your heat has made it here for a few days, today being the most humid, it is predicted. I think I will just stay home. OR I may meet my sister and mom at Applebee's. Sis told me that mom asked to go there for Labor Day. Surprises me but hey.
Also glad Catherine that you had a nice real weekend too.
Man it is cold here today. It is 11:30 AM and the current temp is approximately 58*. :O Did I wake up in November instead of September?
I finally heard back from Douglas today... first time since August 8th. I don't have time right now to digest all of what he said, as his writing and grammar skills are not the best. But it sounds like they accidentally sent him to the wrong location for his GED school and now he is somewhere different then he was supposed to be. So the plane tickets I bought might not work out. This is not good.
the wedding is Oct 11.
This weekend we got A LOT accomplished. We figured out rentals, favors, timing, 2 ceremony item details, "OUR" song, a selection of songs for "mingle" music during the reception, the cake, and food. Food was a tough one that we'd been back and forth on so many times. Ultimately we decided to have it catered by Josh's favorite local restaurant.
Today when we got home we went to the mall and bought the last bit of clothing items we need.
And we talked with Josh's sisters and my mom about their arrivals. Now we just need to talk with my sister and his dad. I'm so excited.
Catherine ---- I hope you can do what you need to do to see Douglas' graduation. That really stinks.
I likely can change the plane tickets, but the airline says the rebooking fee is up to $150 per ticket. $300 is a lot more to shell out on top of what I have already paid.
I haven't told Matt yet because his answer is going to be, "I told you so." He said I shouldn't book the tickets until I actually heard from Douglas.
My coworker did tell me "I told you so." She said the military is not at all good with schedules or doing things when they say they will.
Well, the plane tickets I booked are for Dallas, and if worse comes to worse at least Dallas is an interesting place we can visit for four days.
I hate "I told you sos...." It's like you don't feel badly enough about what happened, you need someone to rub it in your face???
GRRR!!!!!
I do my best not to use that phrase, or similar phrase, when in those situations.
It's expensive to change a flight, yes. I paid $200 to change my flight from SFO to Grand Rapids last month when I missed my flight. That felt like A LOT of money to spend to make my trip even shorter than it already was. However, if I may, I think you will be sad if you don't change your flight or somehow figure out how to get to where he is to see him graduate. This is important and if he gets deployed soon, you'll not see him for awhile. (This is basic training graduation??? You'll want to go. He'll be a whole new man that you never thought he'd be.)
Is he at all close to Dallas??? Could you rent a car? Would that be cheaper?
Yes, it is Basic Training graduation. And yes, I do want to be there.
It still just gets on my nerves that he had a date to start GED classes, a date to start BT, and a date to start his Army job training, and now it might now work out for something that sounds like the military's fault... the same people who gave him those dates.
He is about three hours from Dallas, and the plan was/is to rent a car in Dallas and drive to where he is. Flying to Dallas was cheaper than flying to where he is directly.
You're right, it's aggravating.
Something to learn though, like the customer, the military is always right. It's frustrating.
here is what Douglas had to say, with some editing from me:
Life really sucks really hard, for some reason. the army is hard haha.
i still have no idea about my BT grad. date and i think that it might be pushed back a little from the date that i orignially gave you too my "CURRENT" knowledge, i could be wrong but that is how it does look. if and when i do find out about that kind of stuff i will let you know with everything .
at this current time i am [in South Carolina], APS, or Army Prep. School.
we cant get mail here, and were be stuck here as long as it takes, they have had a 0% drop out rate, which means out of the people who took the test here 100% passed. if u do fail u have 2 days to study, then u get too take it again and try again, if u fail it 2 times u fail and get out of the army w/e
(w/e = whatever)
now, WHile im here i dont get any mail, basically. what happened to me is the amry ended up sending me to Fort Benning, Georgia, on accident, w/e also.
so i wasted like 11 days there. today is like. the 1st [of September]. if i can get my GED ( there is early testing out, if your Sargent feels your ready, or your teachers, (i meet mine tommorow, then they can put you threw thr process also if they think your ready for the test. you then take a pracice test, then your real thing if u scored fine.) i did very well on my "Tabe test. but i think i did a paper and it got me bared from takeing the test immeditaely for w/e reason maby i messed up or something (um, perhaps it is your great lack of grammar skills?), or i was in trouble, so as of now im here for 1 more week. i think i can try and test out next week. once i do finish they give me my GED and then fly me right to [Oklahoma]. since ive already been processed, when i do get too [Oklahoma], i will go down range too Basic training immediately, so the date of my Graduiation could either be longer or shorter then i orignially anticipated. which is kinda dumb but it can be good if your smart. Also, when your processing, your in this place called reception, its dumb. they make you into a bald worn out soldier and make you accountable for like 1k+ worth of gear in 2 bags that weigh about 70 pounds. (poor kid )
haters really. (this makes me laugh)
As for the Mail thing, right now we wont be here long enough for the mail to get to me. when i get to [Oklahoma] and i get threw thier reception, then ill, be down range, and when im down range i can then recieve mail, which i will get to you as soon as i can, also. if someone in the family becomes like really ill then talk to the Red Cross, and theyll find me threw the Chain of w/e in the army. and ill know in like a few hours or way less
um, more or less i dont get mail here at the school because most arnt here long enough. the mail would get here, basicly and wed be gone already.
woot rite?
so. sorry about the plane ticket times. maby theyll be right maby they wont. also i think that the army has its wasy of helping you with that. i dont have the info with me right now but there is a chance i can get too you the number of someone who can find that out. BTW. i dont have your address. but if i need it ill get it. simply.
i think thats it for now. ill be back this comeing sunday if my platoon doesnt mess up very badly again like we "like" too do or something ._.
-douglas.
I need y'alls opinion. I don't want to start a new thread, so I hope I can get some good responses here.
Josh and I are thinking music for our ceremony. We're not having any musicians, we're using music on our ipod for everything.
Instead of a unity candle, we're having a sand ceremony (beach wedding and all). At any rate, we're trying to decide what music to play during that. We're toying with having his step-mom sing Amazing Grace (she has a LOVELY voice), but I'm not sure it's the most appropriate song for that part of the ceremony. Amazing Grace, however, is Josh's favorite hymn of all time.
So do you all think it's an OK place for that song?
I'm thinking maybe we could still have her sing the song, but somewhere else in the ceremony and have somethign else during that time.
