UP UNTIL YESTERDAY AFTERNOON MY friend TAMMY, ONLY HAD HEAVY FINANCIAL BURDENS, SEVERE DISABLING HEALTH ISSUES, A DISABLED HUSBAND, WHOM RECENTLY HAD A PARTIAL LEG AMPUTATION ALONG WITH OTHER MAJOR HEALTH ISSUES, A FINANCED USED CAR THAT THE ENGINE BLEW OUT LESS THAN 4 WEEKS AGO AND STILL HAVING TO MAKE PAYMENTS ON IT. ALL OF THIS SEEMS MINOR IN THE COMPARISON OF THE DEATH OF HER SON, MY NEPHEW, MATTHEW YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, JULY 16, 2008. APPARENTLY, MATTHEW WAS HOLDING ON TO A GUN FOR A "FRIEND" FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. AN ACQUAINTANCE WAS VISITING HIM AND ULTIMATELY HE WAS "PROVING" THAT THE GUN WAS EMPTY AND FIRED. TRAGICALLY, THE GUN WAS NOT EMPTY! THE BULLET WENT STRAIGHT INTO HIS HEAD. HE STILL HAD A PULSE AT THIS TIME, BUT DUE TO THE PARAMEDICS NOT ARRIVING IN A TIMELY MANNER, HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.
IN ADDITION TO BEING A PLEA FOR ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THAT PEOPLE CAN HELP WITH, IT IS ALSO A LESSON. HOW MANY KIDS HAVE TO DIE BY GUNSHOT WOUNDS BEFORE THEY WILL UNDERSTAND THAT A GUN IS NOT A TOY?
MATTHEW PRITCHETT WAS ONLY 16. HE DIDN'T MAKE IT TO HIS 17TH BIRTHDAY NEXT MONTH.

Oh Yolanda, my heart breaks for you and your family..I am so sorry my friend..
Lord, I lift this family up to you today. Lord, please comfort this family and these parents
that have lost their young son. It is such a tragedy Lord, please give them comfort and
let them feel your loving arms around them today Lord..
I can only imagine what your family is going through, I am so so sorry!

That is so sad. Gun cabinets/safes are the answer. Locked up at all times.

thank you all for the prayers you have yet rendured for this family. the family is still sad about this loss but that is natural for something so unexpected. Lets pray and keep this family lifted.
