Who is Barack Obama? Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, t o Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHIEST from Wichita, Kansas. Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia. When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school. Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school." Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education. Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta. Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking Major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran. Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential candidacy. The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!

That should be irrelevant--the Constitution says there are no religious tests for office--but it is also in fact a lie. Congressman Ralph Ellison was sworn in on the Koran in 2007, which raised the eyebrows of some right-wingers because it was the first time such a thing had been done. If Barack Obama, the keynote speaker at the Democratic convention in 2004, had been sworn in on the Koran it would've been noted at the time it happened. Please stop spreading lies in the name of Christianity.

Please stop spreading lies in the name of Christianity. My big thing with issues like this, is we, as Christians, seem to LOVE politicians that exhibit a life of faith...and religion....OH, but, in order for us to like that, it has to be OUR "brand" of religion....and, any other "faith", is now seen as a negative... As i mentioned in the threads about the Christian Georgia governor praying for rain....and, many across the state (and in that discussion thread), saying things like: "A victory for leadership" "We were THRILLED that our Gov. took the initiative to pray and stand firm on his beliefs" "We need more leaders like him who is not ashamed to show his faith" MY questions were: So, then you'd be just as pleased about a governor, or other government official, for "proudly displaying" his faith....EVEN IF he didn't share YOUR faith....and it was muslim/wiccan/buddhist or whatever? Would anyone think any different if he were of a totally different religion?

Please stop spreading lies. This smear has no basis in fact. Barack Obama Is Not and Has Never Been a Muslim. Obama never prayed in a mosque. He has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United Church of Christ. Obama's Step-Father Saw Religion "As Not Particularly Useful," But Followed "A Brand of Islam" That Made Room for Animist and Hindu Faiths. Obama wrote in the Audacity of Hope, "When my mother remarried, it was to an Indonesian with an equally skeptical bent, a man who saw religion as not particularly useful in the practical business of making one's way in the world, and who had grown up in a country that easily blended its Islamic faith with remnants of Hinduism, Buddhism, and ancient animist traditions." Obama wrote in Dreams from My Father, "Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths." [Audacity of Hope, p 204; Dreams From My Father, p 37] Obama Found Faith During Community Organizing Days. "It was at Trinity United Church of Christ here, in the late 1980s, that Senator Obama says he found religion. Raised in a secular household, with ancestral roots running from Islam to Baptist to atheist, Obama had grown up a skeptic. But Mr. Wright's blend of scripture and social action resonated with Obama, then a young community organizer in black neighborhoods ravaged by steel-mill closings." [Christian Science Monitor, 7/16/07] HE NEVER ATTENDED A RADICAL MUSLIM SCHOOL CNN Reporter: I've Been to Madrassas in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and Obama's Indonesian Elementary School Is Nothing Like That. On January 22, CNN Reporter John Vause reported, "I came here to Barack Obama's elementary school in Jakarta, looking for what some are calling an Islamic Madrassa, like the ones that teach hate and violence in Pakistan and Afghanistan.. I've been to those Madrassas in Pakistan and Wolf, this school is nothing like that." [CNN, Situation Room, 1/22/07] Please stop spreading lies about Barack Obama. Fact Check here and Snopes.com

I apologize. I received that message in an email. Like some people, I made a mistake and posted some false information without doing some research first. Again I apologize. But he's still not fit for office.

I thought more about this thread. So what if Obama had been a Muslim? GWB was a heavy drinker before he became a Christian. A pastor last night said that he had been a whoremonger before he knew Christ. And then there's Saul of Tarsus. All of us were something before coming to know the Lord as our savior. The great commission tells us to go out and spread the Good News. If we do that, plant the seed so that the Holy Spirit can change their hearts, isn't that Good News? But to do that, only to keep throwing it up in their faces, "He used to do that, She said this" seems incongruent with Christian values. I'm not going to vote for Obama because I don't think he's had enough experience and we don't share many values. What he was before he came to Christ has nothing to do with my vote.

Being a Muslim should not disqualify one from serving as President in the US. Unfortunately, this nation has been told in any number of ways that Muslims are scary people and are intent on taking over the US. Eugene Robinson wrote a good article about how we have become a paranoid nation. Lying and perpetuating the lie that Obama is a Muslim is a way to perpetuate the bigotry that is so prevalent in this country and amongst Christians in particular. This lie is easier to talk about then for someone to admit that they hate Muslims and/or black people. I'm not sure what values from which you differ with Obama, but he has consistently shown to be of sound character, judgment and integrity. These are values I believe are important in a President. We certainly don't have that now. Find out more about him here.

Voting for one is essentially voting for the rest with little real difference. Does Obama favor non-intervention? Does he favor abolishing the IRS and Federal Reserve? Does he favor removing all troops from foreign lands? If not, then he does not stand for the change that this nation needs. I think he is a very likable guy. And I am sure that for a politician he has great values. He just does not support the plan that this nation needs.

My Bible tells me that when God sent his only Son to Earth, it was to heal the sick and comfort the weary; to feed the hungry and clothe the naked; to befriend the outcast and redeem those who strayed from righteousness. LINK I suppose it is up to each of us. But it seems that he is as outspoken about his Christians faith as most politicians and people.

You realize, of course, that all of the politicking by conservative commentators, televangelists, and politicians also means nothing in and of itself. Nobody really knows who is a friend of God except whether they, themselves, are a friend of God.

Just like the first statement starting this thread, this is not true. Proverbs 12:22: The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth To get the actual facts you can go here or here or here or here. Also, quote:
Obama Had Not Worn A Flag Pin For Years, Said Patriotism Resided In The Heart And Not The Lapel. The Chicago Tribune reported, "His campaign, sensing the issue was dominating campaign news, had earlier made clear he had not worn such a pin for years. 'I'm less concerned about what you are wearing on your lapel than what's in your heart,' he said under a county fairgrounds pavilion here, a giant American flag draped behind him. 'You show your patriotism by how you treat your fellow Americans, especially those ones who served.' He suggested that some politicians who wear such pins act in disingenuous ways. 'After a while, you know, you start noticing people wearing a lapel pin, but not acting very patriotic, not voting to provide veterans with the resources that they need,' he said. What does the Military Brass have to say about this. quote:
Danzig, McPeak, Gration: "Barack Obama Is A Patriot." "'Senator Obama's attackers are peddling lies and smears because they disagree with his strong opposition to the war in Iraq and the rush to war in Iran,' wrote Richard Danzig, secretary of the Navy under President Bill Clinton, and retired Gens. Merrill "Tony" McPeak and J. Scott Gration. 'We have served this nation for decades, and we know a true patriot when we see one. Barack Obama is a patriot.'" quote:
McPeak: Patriotism Is Hard Work; Pin Flap Is Business As Usual, Obama Wants To Turn The Page. When asked on a conference call about Obama no longer wearing an American flag pin, General Tony McPeak said, "'This business about the lapel pin, I think the senator understands that patriotism is hard work...If you could just do it by placing a flag on your lapel, that would be pretty easy.' McPeak then dismissed the flag flap as 'petty symbolism.' 'This pin flap is kind of business as usual. Isn't that the old politics, the gotcha politics,' he said. 'Barack stands for turning the page. Let's do something substantial here.'" Finally, quote:
Des Moines Register: Obama Was Right About Wearing The Flag Pin And True Patriotism. The Des Moines Register wrote in an editorial, "When we searched eBay for "flag lapel pins," the Web site returned more than 400 hits. With shipping as low as 60 cents, buyers can have a little nugget of patriotism delivered right to their doors. Following 9/11, these small pins could be found on nearly every politician. Over time, the novelty wore off, and people tucked the pins in drawers (or sold them online). Still, when a reporter in Iowa asked presidential candidate Barack Obama why he wasn't wearing a pin, it turned into a national news story. The pin, Obama said, "became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security. I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest." He rightly noted that some people wearing lapel pins don't act very patriotic. Staff from other campaigns criticized him. One political analyst said the absence of the pin might hurt him politically. Reporters started asking other candidates about the whereabouts of their pins. Perhaps in an image-fixated world, a flag secured to one's lapel speaks louder than words or actions. But Obama is right. It shouldn't." Prov 6:16-17: There are six things the Lord hates—no, seven things he detests: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family.

what exactly would you like to know? Here's a speech he gave at American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Excerpts from the speech! quote:
Our job is to never forget that the threat of violence is real. Our job is to renew the United States’ efforts to help Israel achieve peace with its neighbors while remaining vigilant against those who do not share this vision. Our job is to do more than lay out another road map; our job is to rebuild the road to real peace and lasting security throughout the region. quote:
That effort begins with a clear and strong commitment to the security of Israel: our strongest ally in the region and its only established democracy. That will always be my starting point. And when we see all of the growing threats in the region: from Iran to Iraq to the resurgence of al-Qaeda to the reinvigoration of Hamas and Hezbollah, that loyalty and that friendship will guide me as we begin to lay the stones that will build the road that takes us from the current instability to lasting peace and security. Hope this helps.
