I need some help trying to understand what is happening:

1. Sarah Palin is criticized for having a speech writer but

I've never seen such a comment aimed at a man

2. Sarah Palin is criticized for having 5 children because it will distract her from her job as Veep but

I've never seen such a comment aimed at a man

3. The Boston papers ran a story on Sarah Palin's hairstyle but

I've never seen such a comment aimed at a man

Since when did it become acceptable to slam someone and not get called for being such a sexist pig???

Since the left actually had to deal with a real woman instead of their caricature of one.

I think it is funny that Palin is hammered for being a "bad mom" because she accepted the VP nomination, but Biden, who chose to keep his job as a Senator after he became a single parent, was heralded as being "brave" and "heroic". I wonder who raised his remaining kids for him?

Didn't you get the memo?

Women are only allowed to be independent and think for ourselves if we toe the liberal feminist line.

Really? I've seen it leveled at Obama on this board.

I'll give you this one, but Clinton was criticized for having an ugly child.

Remember Johnathan Edwards?

1 for 3. Not bad.

Sure, Democrats play dirty. And you are right--they shouldn't. But it's not like it hasn't happened before.

That being said, it would be better to attack her for her inexperience, her lies, her marriage to a secessionist, or her foolish words about the stupid war we are in.

Liberals don't need to attack her personally--her policies are bad enough.

Is just an "welcome" to the public eyes, the seasoned politicians and their families, as the many hollywood stars and many others have their persons, actions, public and private life invaded without much scrupulous. And believe or not some people do take gossip seriously, a la tabloids style the latest slam becomes front page, is part of the culture, dont you know?

I distinctly remember a thread on here a while back about John Edwards dropping, IIRC, $400 on a haircut.

I'm not hammering her at all - I'm applauding her.

I think some of the criticism comes when a party that has speakers such as Pat Buchanan diss women (even those in combat, that serve), yet, because Palin is a Republican for the venerable hot seat VP position, and you're now saying that having women in charge is a new idea? Please, be real! And this is not aimed at Palin - she is a great role model for women - this is aimed at the Republican platform.

Zhi is a female? Geez... stupid ambiguous internet. I can usually pick out who is which sex, but for some reason I had pegged you as a male ;) Not that it matters, it is just like when you listen to a radio host or DJ for a long time and have a picture of them in your mind, only to find out they are NOTHING like the mental picture you had of them.

Anyway, your point is exactly correct. The liberal feminists only cheer you for being an independent, strong woman if you append "liberal" to the resume. Or if you are ugly.

You're living in the past. Buchanan hasn't spoken at a convention in years and the last time he ran for office it was in the Reform party.

Which candidate called a reporter "Sweetie?" The same one who told Clinton's women supporters to "get over it." Putting women in their place in the great tradition of Bill Clinton.

There have been MANY women in politics before, that have had children, held stressful jobs, and have gotten slack for it and you mean to tell me that Palin is the first to get grilled over this?! What about Hillary from the party you blindly follow?! Please have some objectivity.

Not believing woman should serve in combat is not an automatic disrespect... Some people believe they don't belong there out of respect for them... The Israelis learned long ago it doesn't work... Dead woman on the battle field is a morale killer, and given human nature men will come to their rescue and ignore the objective...

For the record I recall most Republicans thinking very highly of Margaret Thatcher..

Sorry John, I have seen far too many Democratic women get dumped on for their 'values' for working like Gov Palin has that your statement holds no credence with me. But now, because Gov Palin has the Republican label on her - she is held in high regard and untouchable. Again, I think she's awesome - but to say that women that have jobs, kids have not been criticized before is utterly ridiculous and downright silly.

And, I am being objective on this one. I am not a registered Democrat at all - but this one definitely takes the cake. I mean, come on!

That's all you have?

And you didn't even answer my previous post, number 21.

Well, I'm going to bed. In the meantime, please explain to me how you think that Gov Palin is the first women ever in public office that has kids, and has been criticized for this. And don't stay up until 3am, John ! Please, get some sleep!
