ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) -- Alaska lawmakers huddled behind closed doors Friday to review a report on Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner, who says he was sacked for resisting pressure to fire the governor's ex-brother-in-law.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is under investigation for the firing of her public safety commissioner.

The bipartisan Legislative Council went into executive session to discuss the report from former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower before its scheduled release. But state Senate President Lyda Green told reporters outside the meeting room, "It's going to be hours."

Only a portion of the report is scheduled to be made public after the executive session, said state Sen. Kim Elton, the Legislative Council's chairman. A second part of the report contains "confidential" information and will be kept under wraps, said Elton, a Democrat who has been under fire from Palin's supporters.

State Rep. Peggy Wilson, a Republican member of the council, said the total report ran about 1,000 pages.

"This is a pretty serious thing, and I don't feel comfortable even talking about it until I've got it all read," she said.

Story Here

Wonder why the right isn't calling for their "messiah" figure to be honest and tell people the details of Troopergate. Why isn't Fox News running an endless loop of this story until Sarah comes clean?

Sarah, what are you hiding?

Why, do you support the scumbag ex-BIL? This is akin to someone getting their knickers in a knot over roughing up Ted Bundy during his arrest.

Get a life.

Jimbo, put down the grape-juice, turn off Rush Limbaugh and take a deep breath.

The issue here is NOT the scum-bag BIL but the legality of using your position to ILLEGALLY get somebody fired. Are you saying that the law doesn't matter as long as you're a republican?

That's the impression I get. She is innocent until proven guilty but why refuse to abide by a subpenea? Isn't that also illegal?

If she is guilty of abusing her power and illegally firing someone then she should be held accountable. If there's nothing here then it'll go away after all is said and done.

At least that's how people should feel about it if they have any degree of legit honesty.

Palin's not really hiding anything. It's pretty much common knowledge that she is an undereducated, unvetted political hack who McCain has been able to train to repeat the same few phrases over and over again.

The phony cutsiness, the false and lying homey folksiness, and the "you betchas" are all a mask covering the face of a shrill, ravening, salivating GOP version of Hillary Clinton, only without the education or taste in clothes. Please note that this is NOT an endorsedment of the Marxist Clinton (except possibly for her taste in clothes).

It's very simple. McCain's campaign is morally bankrupt since he embraces socialism and the "bailout." While I certainly don't want a communist like Obama to win, McCain/Palin are little better. Personal attacks, which every poll shows to be backfiring on the GOP, are the only ammo this pair of loser RINOs has until Election Day.

What's Palin hiding? Not much. Certainly not political or economic insight.

OBAMA/BIDEN = SOCIALISM (fast track)

McCAIN/PALIN = SOCIALISM (slow boat)

I don't listen to radio talk-shows, can't remember what year I last heard anything from Rush. Fact is, I SOOOooooo don't care about this scumbag. Find something worthy of our attention, then you might have a chance to make me think that donkey is worth riding.

Until then, chill and get a life.

The guy tasered an 11-year-old.

I would hope that my governor would fire a state trooper that did that too, who cares if they're related. Anyone who tasers an 11 year old obviously lacks the good judgment to be a trooper.

So if she tried to get him fired in an illegal manner that would ok? She gets to ignore the law because it's inconvenient to her?

I'm not defending the trooper, I'm just saying that there are rules and laws that have to be followed in the matter of the firing. If she broke the rules or the law in that regard then she needs to be held accountable for that. No one is above the law.

He said that he was a new Taser instructor, and his stepson was asking him about the equipment. "I didn't shoot him with live, you know, actual live cartridge," Wooten said.

Instead, he said, he hooked his stepson up to a training aid "with little clips. And, you know, the Taser was activated for less than a second, which would be less than what you would get if you touched an electric fence. ... It was as safe as I could possibly make it."

He said his stepson was on the living room floor surrounded by pillows, that he "was bragging about it," and that the family laughed about it.

Asked whether it was a dumb decision, Wooten told CNN, "absolutely."

Sounds more like Homer/Bart Simpson idiocy than maliciousness to me. Should he have done it, absolutely not, but this incident is certainly not as vile as some people seem to think.

This is certainly not something Palin should have gotten involved in other than reporting the incident. You can't use your position as governor to force someone employed by the administration to take action against an enemy of the family -- someone who was actively involved in a child custody dispute with her sister at the time. That would be an awful abuse of power, and it is something we absolutely should know about before voting in an election where she could be VP.

Tasering one's child is not as vile as some people seem to think? Is there a vileness scale I haven't heard about? Do we want our law officers to be just 'mostly' vile?

In addition he threatened the life of his father-in-law, has been convicted of a DUI as law officer as well as poaching. How much more vile does he have to get before Obama supporters stop acting like he is some sad victim in all this?

Yeah, she could be a threat to corrupt law officials across the country then; the Dems wouldn't want that.

I agree. The trooper deserved to be fired.

Yet Palin (allegedly) whacking a third party (Walt Monegan) for not getting rid of her ex-BIL on her behalf is spineless and underhanded.

Jack, I have yet to see anyone defending Wooten's conduct.

I think anyone who defends a officer as corrupt as Palin's BIL apparently was should not only be 'whacked' he should be brought up on charges himself.

Y'know, Jack - unless Wooten was hired "At Will," I'm sure you are aware that legal procedures exist for getting someone fired.

If Monegan was following these rules, and Palin was not, how is he at fault?

The question isn't about the brother-in-law, it's about whether or not Gov. Palin used her position to have someone fired in a retributive fashion. It's about whether or not she abused her power as Govenor in firing Monegan as Public Safey Director when he wouldn't fire said brother-in-law.

We don't know the whole situation though there are questions, especially since much of this took place during a nasty custody hearing. There are layers upon layers and that's why there needs to be an accounting of events and an investigation to see if there were shenannigans going on.

Actually, Monegan was an at will employee who served at the leisure of the Governor of Alaska, which makes this even more much ado about nothing.

And I also want to know, if Monegan was fired to get rid of Wooten, why does Wooten still have a job?

That Wooten was a vile character seems not to be at question whatever his relationship to the Governor.

If so, it just makes Palin firing Monegan out of political spite all the more childish.

Good question. Perhaps because Wooten is a member of a police union? I don't know.

I don't really think it matters why she did it as long as she had the full right to do so.

Yes, he is; which is part of the reason he got five days suspension total for all the things he did.

It definitely matters. It speaks directly to Palin's character.

Thanks, I did not know that.
