This past Sunday on Meet the Press, Nancy Pelosi told Tom Brokaw that there ass controversy within the Roman Catholic Church on exactly when life begins. Not being a Catholic, I thought that didn't sound right, but I lacked any basis for disputing what she said. Well here is an authority who disagrees strongly with Madame Speaker:LINK. The thing about Democrats is that they keep repeating things (which are either wrong or outright lies) and eventually they think people will begin to believe them. I wonder how much press this Archbishop's statement will get?

I would hope that some other RCC leaders would denounce her as well. Thanks RC

I wonder how much press this Archbishop's statement will get? Fox News is reporting on this now. They interviewed the Bishop who responded to Pelosi's statement. They also gave Pelosi's response which was along the lines of that while the Catholic church may teach that life begins at conception many Catholics don't subscribe to that belief.

THis is interesting since on Sunday on Meet the Press, she spoke with the authority of a Roman Catholic theologian. It seems to me that it is hard to still call oneself a 'practicing' Catholic if you don't follow the catechism.

That lady's as Catholic as my pit bull!

She deserved having her head handed to her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9hAl2L2CR8 That said, I wish it would have been front-page news instead of being buried (if it was even reported at all). She is 2nd only to the vice president in the line of succession should something happen to the president. That is big and her trying to justify her pro-death stance to convince others that it's ok is simply appalling.

Pelosi is evidently standing by here statements. And using an ECF to support her position; See HERE. Pelosi giving theological lessons to the Pope; that ought to really rile up the RCC leadership; as it should. The Speaker of the House is an absolute disaster. Thanks RC

Both Archbishop Wuerl of Washington DC and Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver have issued statements calling her to task. Archbishop Wuerl's statement is in the article above, Archbishop Chaput's statement is here: http://www.archden.org/images/ArchbishopCorner/ByTopic/onseparationofsense%26state_openlettercjc8.25.08.pdf
