I have too many accessories in my home. I've collected the excess into a single room. I'm sick of this room being a mess of junk. Some of the accessories I can part with easily, but some I think I might like to keep because they are things I like a lot and are classic (like toile plates.)

I guess I need to pack away what I want to keep in the attic. I dream of having a shelving unit where I can keep figurines and flower arrangements I love and rotate them throughout the year. Some of them are seasonable and some I can leave out year round even though they have a seasoned theme because of my interests and decor.

Any ideas on how I can make my accessories more accessable without storing them in the attic in boxes? Most of them are too big for a wall hanging curio cabinet and my home is too small for a large curio or china cabinet, so those ideas are out. What do you do with accessories you love, but don't have room to display?

Fortunately for me, I have two linen closets and I use to stack and hold things like candles and other decor that I rotate out. I keep it all stacked and organized, so all I have to do is open the door and choose what to put out and put away.

I keep real holiday stuff in those big clear rubbermaid boxes that I can drag out and unpack for the holidays.

I don't have enough storage spaces here to accomodate all that I'd need. We put shelving in our spare bedroom, and I have large boxes, and small boxes that I wrapped with pretty wrapping paper. I then store things in each box. There is an Easter box, "spring" box, etc... Christmas is the exception. I have a closet for everything Christmas. The rest stays in the spare room in boxes. If there are things that I'd like to rotate in/out it usually is from my "general" decorations box. Other than that, they rotate seasonally.

Can you fit any 'under the bed' storage boxes under your beds? The clear ones are a great suggestion.

We had a huge hall linen closet/ pantry in a home when I was a girl. That's a GREAT idea!

We don't have linen closest, but that would be the perfect solution: a dust free environment that was easy to get to.

Since we don't have linen closets, the under bed spot is taken up with the boxes you mentioned with extra sheets and grandma-sewn quilts.

Too many accessories? YES.

I have cupboards that I can store unused accessories in as well as a basement filled with totes of off season decorative items. We have a large home and like the saying goes, you fill the space you have. YIKES! I'm willing and ready to downsize but am waiting to figure out how to rid myself of excess and also get my spouse on the same page, KWIM? He's still content. Of course, downsizing as in a smaller house would probably cost us more in today's economy. So until that happens, I need to learn to regularly clean things out and give them away or learn to sell on ebay.

Dear HisCovenant I think you should wrap them in boxes and maybe later on you might move to bigger house and you well have them are you can share them in a garage sale or yard sale if they are not that important I hope this helps you with your stock stuff. I have the same problem with my stuff.

I'm glad you all think so...we moved from a townhouse to a real house and we have closets that we didn't know what to put in all the closet space.

When you open the closet with all the decor stuff, a wonderful aroma comes out from the candles and potpourri I have in there. Smells fabulous.
