I bought the debut album of Since October a few weeks ago and I am very impressed with it. They have the sound of the groups Red and Dead Poetic. My only beef with this album is that it seems too short which IMO is becoming a sad reality for more and more groups. These are CD's people and can hold up to 70 minutes of music! You should at least come up with 45 minutes worth before releasing an album! Of course this probably has more to do with the record compny than the band, although these days I would wonder about that ....

Not bad, not bad at all. As far as the length it appears to me (and my quick mind math) to be around 40 minutes. Not too bad, at least it isn't Weezer's 27 minute CD a few years back (the third one, forgot the name). I'm kinda into quality over quantity nowadays. There aren't too many bands who should be making 70 minute CDs. Too much filler, most bands do not have enough good ideas at any one time for something of that length. Maybe once for their big double album project but even the best of those usually have a few "merely OK" tracks. BTW: A good story album like Pink Floyd's "The Wall" or "Tommy" is able to avoid this because what would ordinarily be filler on an album without the storyline becomes storyline advances and they frame their best ideas around it. The best double albums (or longer albums) have a central theme that, if its a good one, can elevate the "lesser" songs. Just thought I'd mention it before I get a bunch of concept album suggestions. This may sound weird but one "concern" I would have in purchasing this and expecting myself to listen to it enough to warrent the money spent is that the longest song is 3:45 and the shortest is 2:58 (according to Amazon). Having the songs so close in length leads me to suspect that they are writing songs to fit a time frame. That can lead to simple songs or songs that are rushed without the musical idea being fully explored. I only mention it because of the previous comments about length. BTW: works in reverse also. If I see an album where all the songs are over 6 minutes I suspect this artist doesn't know when to stop. The description of Red and Dead Poetic is apt although the samples I heard reminded me of one or the other depending on the song but not both. Keep in mind they were 30 second samples. If they stick with it they have a great shot at "making it" commercially and creatively.

I've been converting my vinyl to digital and have caught myself thinking "That's all?" a couple of times. But they were limited by the media and those fat needles! A few more songs could've done the trick to make it of decent length. It's not like they were Yes writing "Tales for Topographic Oceans"! Now a band like Alter Bridge gives you your money's worth and they can make a 7:00 song sound like that it is the right length.

I was going to put a song from Since October on my Project Playlist but when I searched on the site nothing came up. Oh well I went with A Dream Too Late instead. They only had one song but thats all I needed. I like to have a few new hot Christian rock bands on my Project Playlist to give them a little bit of promotion. Not that I can do much at all but its something.
