I'm moving to London to start uni. Enrolment day is on Friday and the next week is induction. This Sunday I will hopefully get the keys to my student accomodation (the bank messed up my overdraft so right now I have no money to pay for my flat, please pray that the overdraft or loans will come through in time!!). I'm so scared, I have never done something this big completely alone before. Apart from the actual work and finding my way around, I'm terrified that I'll never make friends and be a loner forever!! Do any of you have any advice about anything to do with uni? Thanks and God bless! :)

Welcome to the UK. I hope you enjoy your stay here and you're successful in your studies. Every new move in our life is a little frightening at first. Just focus on God - He's been there before you and will help you every step of the way. As soon as you've settled down in London, find a church that suits you and join in. I hope you'll soon make new friends in church and at University. God bless.

Your Uni will have a Freshers' Week - head straight for the Christian Union and find out when they meet, if they have cellgroups etc. They may well be around on Enrolment Day too. That will make you some friends right away! As for the finances, don't worry! When you go to enrol, just take your letter with you that has your Art ID on it, and that should be fine. My son started Uni at Winchester last September, and his grant/loans were a few days late coming through, but the letter was enough for him to enrol and get started. Btw, have you phoned the Student Loan people to check the progress of your application? Sometimes you can do this online (it never worked for my son!) and other times it's best to phone. It often depends on how near the deadline you submitted the form. Which London Uni are you going to?

Thanks so much for your replies everyone. :) I went to enrolment day yesterday and am sooooo happy that I made 2 friends already! There were some people who told us about the Freshers Fortnight where we can sign up for clubs and stuff, and apparantly there is a Christian group, so I'm gonna be looking for them next week. Yes, PopsiLufsJesus, I will be in a flat with either 4 or 7 other girls. I wish it was a mixed flat though because I tend to get along better with guys, but maybe it will be a plus (no hairs in the sink!!). Thanks for the tip about bringing my Art ID Manda, I'll do that! Yes my loans are all sorted out, in fact I should hopefully be getting them next week if I'm lucky so I can just write a cheque. Hopefully it will work out fine, Im gonna keep praying! I'm starting at London South Bank Uni. God bless you all! :)

ORIGINAL: rachsquelch and apparantly there is a Christian group, so I'm gonna be looking for them next week. That will be great. They will also be able to tell you where most of the Christians there go to church. Is your flat near the Uni? What kind of church are you used to at home?

Yes it's just a couple minutes walk away which is fantastic! I can just roll out of bed and down the road in the morning lol. Well I haven't been to church in a while due to moving here and there and stuff lately, and when I was a kid we never stayed in one church for a very long time for some reason. So I'm used to a variety I guess! Hopefully there's one nearby that is lively and lead by the Holy Spirit rather than everything being scheduled and organised, lively ones are my favourite. Do you happen to live near London and know of any? :)

HERE There's also All Soul's Langham Place: HERE They're both evangelical in their outlook, busy and lively, with plenty of social activities as well. I honestly think they'd be a good place to start. There are other churches in London, but you might want to be careful and check out their beliefs, that they're not cultish etc. The folks at the Christian Union should be able to advise you, but in the meantime, I'd suggest going to All Souls or HTB. For me, I'd probably go for HTB, as the singer/songwriter Tim Hughes is in charge of worship there. I don't know if you've heard of him?

Awesome thanks for the pointers. :) I don't recognise his name but then I'm rubbish remembering names anyway lol. Haven't checked out those churches yet as I only saw your message just now, but I definately will try to find them for next week! :)

ORIGINAL: GobboMon Next year I'm studying In Australia. I've just done a year of a correspondence course on anatomy and physiology. So next year I'm studying a two year course to get a diploma in massage and clinical sports therapy. I didn't finish high school so I'm a little interested to see how I go with studying. That is so cool that you're gonna study in Australia!! Your courses sound difficult! Did you enjoy your anatomy and physiology course? And what was it like? :)

Fantastic, thanks for the links! :) Well this week is induction but the actual course starts on Monday. Nerrrvous lol. I'm gonna do lots of research beforehand on the subject because they said on enrolment day we wouldn't expect a tutor or lecturer to come in unprepared so neither should we. Eeek! :)

I'm doing a BSc Hons degree in Product Design. Today they told us what our first mini project is - in a group of 4 people we have to build a structure using only uncooked spagetti, cotton and any resin, and it has to be able to support the weight of ONLY 1 brick, no more no less. How awesome!! :D
