Okay, I have two - but I'll have to wait until I get home before I can post about them - they take too long, and I don't want to get in trouble still being at work.....

There are only two memorable dates: 55 BC and 1066.

I have quite a few memorable dates, and three of them were with the same person. I'll post them when I'm not dying of this stupid flu.

Playing Scrabble in the park. Some people tell me it sounds lame. But it was simple and a pleasant day and it gave us time to just talk and have fun. Which is what I like. Simple and fun. I'm not too into the "elegant" things of life. :) One of my good guy friends and I used to go out every Saturday for pizza, a trip to the bookstore, and a walk on the beach and I loved those even if we weren't "dating". :)

I have been on all of about 7 dates. They were all memorably bad. Perhaps that is why nothing came of them. Oh, wait, I forgot, when I was in college, in the whole 3 years I was there, I had one date and only one. Anyway, this one guy and his roommate invited another girl and me over for lunch (and cooked for us), and we played Jenga. It was just a no pressure, nice time, Sunday dinner kind of thing. Nothing came of it..the guy married someone else..but I wasn't head over heels for the guy, so it wasn't heartbreaking to me that it didn't go further, although he would have been a cool guy if it had. He was just one of those guys that for me, it was fine either which way that it worked out. It was just a nicely spent afternoon. I still remember he was wearing white sport socks with his black Sunday suit, which was sweetly adorable in its own way. As far as the other dates...well, I won't go into all the gory details. One thing that always made me sad is that I have NEVER had a guy give me flowers...and I was in 2 serious relationships...I know you don't give red roses on the first date, but daisies in the beginning..and white or yellow roses as things move on would be nice. Red roses are probably for the engagement...but I digress..I've been so sad about that so much, my mom always says she is going to majorly warn the next guy that I really like flowers, lol. One guy did send a lot of cute cards..so that was close....but no cigar.

This is interesting because most of my dates have been bad. Or tolerable. I haven't been on too many though. I guess, the sweetest one that I've been on was when I was a teenager. I went to a New Edition concert (yes ... New Edition ... a little while ago) with a guy that I really liked. He was so cute. And a gentleman. So nice, sweet, and smart. He called me about a year or so ago ... he is single ... cute, smart. But not saved. Sigh.

I remember going on a date with thes guy (the ex flame( where all we did was go to this park by the river and we just goofed around...tried to see who can skip rocks the farthest, or we played hide and seek in the dark. At the end of it, he played his guitar for me. It was the most romantic dates of my life. Of course, it didn't last, but it sure guaranteed us a few other memorable dates with each other. I think my date with him the last time a month ago was also memorable. We went hiking for 5 hours, acted silly on th etrail, and played on the rocks (I kick his butt all the time). I was so sure we'd give it a go this time, but I guess it's just not in the cards for us. It was a revenge date for him, lol. One of my truly memorable dates was wen I was 24. Me and my boyfriend then had an afterdark picnic in the park. He was bbquing a steak, with wine and all, 24 roses on the table. It got dark, we didn't have candles so I ran to the store to get some. When I got back, the steak was burnt, we ended up in the fight and ate without talking. A truckoad of girlscouts interrupted us. They got lost and saw our candles. When they found out it was my birthday, they sang habby birthday. I can't describe it, but it turned out to be really romantic.

Okay, now that I have time to post......both happened within six months of one another. The first really wasn't a date (but it sure felt like one). I went to the house of my referee friend, and from the second I walked through the door, I felt so incredibly welcomed, it's not even funny! Since he's from Iran, you take off your shoes when you enter the house. I did this, but we walked straight through to the back patio, and I had to put on shoes again - and since mine were at the front door, I just stepped into his very worn soccer sandals. We sat outside talking for over 2 hours - just talking about everything you can imagine and sharing a bottle of wine. He took me around showing me all the things he'd done to the house, etc, during the time that I've known him. It was just SO nice. After that, we went to dinner at this great Thai restaurant near campus. On the way, he gave me a mini-tour of campus. At dinner we talked about our respective lives and what we were looking for in spouses, etc. It was such a glorious evening! When we got back to the house, I stayed for a while longer before I finally had to leave as he had to go to work the next day. I got a great big hug and promise that it wouldn't be another 2 years before seeing him again. Thankfully, it wasn't - it was only a couple of months. But, since then, we've had some bumps in our relationship. I continue to pray for his salvation. He's one of the most incredible I've ever met! The 2nd one I had started with going with Jim to see Steve Green in concert. We got lost and ended up being late, but it was okay - as it gave us more time to talk. On the way up, Jim had wanted to talk to me about "brokenness". He began telling me his story, and I kept agreeing with him and saying that I'd been to the same place, etc. He finally told me that it was my turn, and I had to tell him what God was doing with me. In our 17+ years of knowing one another, we'd NEVER done this before! So, at the concert, Steve stops and says his wife asked him to do a song he normally doesn't do because it's not something that is discussed very much. He did "In Brokenness You Shine". I started crying and Jim said, "yes it is!" (about being discussed). He was like "wow, seems to be the theme of the night". And, it was. On the way home we listened to the CD I got for him and then at his house we sat and talked until 2am. We had a heart to heart that I'd never had with anyone before. When I left, I told several people that "the man I saw that night was the 'man' I've been waiting for all my life". Neither times were real dates - as in I wasn't involved romantically with either person - but, they are the two most memorable times of my life!

Yep, stinks when they go off and do their own thing, huh? Now I'm open to all sorts of new, memorable dates. Who knows - next year Steve is in concert on Jim's birthday - maybe we can go again and see what happens a year later. LOLOL

By the way, I can't ever remember a memorable date that took place indoor. It's always outdors, in some hiking trails or parks or beaches. I see a pattern emerging. I better find a man while I can still move around,, lol. Or else, no more memorable dates for me! Here's another memorable dates...but in a bad way. The only bad one, I think. I was out with this guy whom I dated years back (another pattern, lol). Anyway, he drove 600 km to see me, which I thought was kind of sweet. Anyway, he took me to this restaurant where all the serving personnel were hired for their looks....lots of cleavage and skirts barely covering their butts. So, needless to say the guy paid more attention to them than me. He noticed that I spent the whole time watching the game on TV and he asked why. I said places like that installs Tvs in a lounge because women need something to entertain themselves while their men oggles the waitresses. LOL. It embarrassed him big time. He was nice to me the rest of the night. It was a little too late.

ORIGINAL: Prairiehiker (I can just see John O naming any dates like Dec 25 or his wedding anniversary, lol). No, that's not what I mean. I mean, can you recall one of the best dates you've ever been in. You never let me have any fun. Actually Oct 31 is one of my favorite dates. It's the same as Dec 25. My favoritest dates have usually been afternnon dates, the beach, or the zoo, or such. Haunted houses are always good dates (I like when she clings to me!)

BEST or most memorable? My most memorable date was also my worst. He wanted to go on a picnic. It was September when we set the date for October, so I figured Indian Summer. Wrong. It was bitter cold. So we sat there and ate sandwiches ... I think he put mustard on them so I had to eat around it ... ick! Not to mention my hands were cold ... I just wanted to get it over with as soon as possible!
