I just started reading some of his books and have really enjoyed them . Easy to read and he seems to get his points across very well . Anyone else reading his books and do you have a favorite ?

I have read 3 of his books and have been impressed and uplifted by all 3. They were all great reads:

Come Thirsty
He chose the Nails
Fearless

I loved "Next Door Savior". I've been using his "Grace for the Moment" devotional for years.

I personally have every single thing ever written by Max Lucado, he is not just good and talented at writing, he also has an outstanding grasp of what Christianity should be. I appreciate his work very much. In addition he has this bible study series called "Life Lessons" that helps me to steer my older children's study in the right direction. Because I am a Pastor, I tend to jump into the bible deeper than my children are ready for, so with these books I can actually tone it down to a pace they can enjoy.

Hi wendlanne - I have not read that one ,I will have to check it out . I really like " Cast of Characters " and " Fearless ". Both are great books in opinion and very helpful .

Our church has recently been participating in a Max Lucado study based on his book 3:16. We are halfway through the six sessions, and so far I have been impressed.
It has made me want to look into some of his other books.

I have read most of his books. I have enjoyed them. They are also good for those not yet believers or new to the faith because he keeps things simple (on the surface) and doesn't overwhelm those new to the bible.

I too like him. I just found Facing your Giants, Just Like Jesus and about four of his Life Lessons books at the second hand store. Just waiting for me to read.

I came to Max Lucado with a prejudice. I thought he wrote fluff. . . so stayed away. Then I read one of his books. And found out I was wrong.

Anyway, He Still Moves Stones was my favorite although I have not read all of his books. I think that book is based on John's gospel (but I'm stretching my memory and could be wrong again ).

A lot of people make that mistake and are surprised when they see otherwise. He's very good at taking extremely complex ideas and breaking them down so that they can be understood. "Traveling Light" and "Next Door Savior" are great examples of this.

Does anyone know what church Max Lucado is affiliated with. Not that it makes any difference to me -- I'm just curious.

I visited his church once. He is undoubtedly a great author and speaker, but I think his church has gotten a bit too big for its own good, no doubt influenced by Max's celebrity status. Wasn't particularly friendly and we were packed like sardines. (Of course those two factors are related. Tight crowds bring out the worst in everyone.) Also the bulletin had a note that went something like "if you see a famous person here, please do not ask for their autograph." That kind of rubbed my wife and I the wrong way.

I guess it's a shame that some pastors "get lucky" and get all the attention, while thousands of other pastors have equally great things to say and yet struggle with small churches.
