I've been known to watch the Coyote Ugly auditions...and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader auditions--talk about a lot of fake body parts! (And last night I learned they are supposed to have 15% body fat.

But maybe one of the weirdest reality shows I've seen is My Big Redneck Wedding.
1) Do these people sign up knowing that they are going to be made fun of?
2) Do they recognize that most of the free world does not live like them?
3) Are they really that scary in real life?

Two of my favorites moments...

Bride: I can't find my teeth!
Mom: Do you want to wear mine?

Bride: I'm not going to get married if I can't wear this dress! (it was actually a very pretty dress)
Mom: You are going to marry your brother and you're going to shut up about it!

roflol....we were intrigued, so we watched one episode of that...oh my goodness...even though I have redneck roots (born in the redneck area of the smoky mountains), it was just too much at times.
(the one we watched was a brother/sister wedding...but really they weren't true brother/sister...their parents had married when they were older, so really they were only related on paper, not by blood...so really the commercials about that one were kind of stupid IMO)

I have wondered ever since then, however, if one can marry a sibling even though you are adopted. They didn't seem to know the answer themselves.

I love that show! I didn't know it still came on. I saw all of the first go-round. Way too many awesome clips to try and mention them all...I hope they've gotten rid of the pathetically not funny commentator (Mr. Roseanne...Tom Arnold).

Nope, he's still on there. He doesn't bother me too much, though. The redneck shenanigans simply can't be overshadowed by anything else.

(I have to admit, though...buying all your bridesmaids/groomsmen outfits in the hunting section at Wal-Mart is a lot easier that what most brides go through. )

And that's one of the things I love about the show. Those other million dollar wedding shows make me want to puke.

I didn't see the show, but what Sarah described sounded more like a step brother step sister situation then an adoption situation..

but legally, no, adopted siblings can't marry..and yes, I do have a reason I know this..(Stellaluna, you can pm me if you want).

I think all I heard during the show was that the girl was adopted into the family as a teenager.

Oh, well, maybe it was an "adoption" in the sense that they simply took her in, but never a legal on paper adoption. I know most states wouldn't let that marriage license be signed.

We had a family in our church way back when that the same thing happened...this family took a girl in from a troubled home who ended up marrying their son..although the son already liked her before they took her in, and he was the one who told the parents about her, so in their case the fact that they married was no big suprise...

They did face a challenge when wording the wedding invitation...they finally to decided to say

Mr.and Mrs._____________

request the honor of your presence at the marriage of

______________________________

to their son, ______________________________.

the one we watched was not very recently....so it wasn't the same one I don't think.

I'm trying to find the episode I saw. Here's the blog for the woman that lost her teeth:

Let me add Gordon Ramsey's shows to my list of lesser-known reality shows and How Clean is Your House. I like all of those, except I like Gordon's shows on BBC a little less than the ones on Fox.

I'm the opposite, I prefer Gordon Ramsay on BBC to Gordon Ramsay on Fox.

I like Canadian reality shows like:
Til Debt Do Us Part - a financial expert shows people how to get out of debt (it just amazes me the way some people spend money)

Wedding SOS - a wedding planner helps people who are in trouble over their wedding (one couple had three days until the date and the only thing they had done was book the hall.)

Those shows sound interesting. Of course, we don't get them. Gordon Ramsay on BBC isn't as volatile, it seems to me. I think the restaurant owners there are quite so full of themselves.

The ones in the original post come on CMT. Another one I like on CMT that only comes on for a season is Cowboy U. Wish it would be on more. Contestants (who usually are city dwelling professionals) live on a ranch and learn to be a cowboy, doing tasks like branding, castrating a bull, barrell racing, and riding a bull.

A couple from near where I live was on My Redneck Wedding. It was in our local newspaper and it was played up quite a bit. They got the wedding for free and their time on TV, but they had to act like bigger rednecks than they really are.
