Is there any historical record of Lazarus anywhere else other than the bible? If he had truly died and came back to life, wouldn't this be a known event in history?

I'm not sure, having never done any study in the matter, but something to consider is how history was recorded back then. It was not like our 21st century methods, where we have extensive records that, with enough time and effort, can be dug through to find some of the most mundane matters down to minute detail. A lack of historical recording in this matter is not too unusual - especially since most people who wouldn't have trusted the biblical account would have denied it ever happened.

There is no extra biblical record that I am aware of besides late church tradition. However, the gospel account may explain why there is not any other record. According to the Gospel record, the Jewish rulers understood that Lazarus's resurrection was causing many to follow Jesus and they were very troubled by this. It would be expected that they would have done everything in their power to see that news of this event was not propagated.

Actually, I wouldn't pick Lazarus as the big event to expect the whole world to be raving about. There are at least three others that were raised from the dead in the NT that I can think of off the top of my head (widow's son, Jairus's daughter, and Eutychus who fell out of a third story window because he fell asleep while Paul was preaching past midnight.) And then there's this: Matthew 27:50-53 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. 51And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. 52The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many. However, even that amazing an event might not make it into a history book that survived to this day. There wasn't nearly as much recorded then as there is now, or even a few hundred years ago. Even if a gaggle of people raised from the dead was the talk of Jerusalem, and a few dozen people wrote it down, it would still be an amazing thing if even a single copy of those writings survived. The Bible is an unparalleled work in terms of number of authors, number of copies in a short amount of time, accuracy of those copies and many other things. It is because of these remarkable traits that the Bible is a major source of historical knowledge from that period, not just about Biblcal events, but about any sort of history at all.

I'm not sure if you will find any actual historical record about him, but Lazarus is thought to have been made Bishop of Kition (Cyprus) by Paul and Barnabus. His final tomb is generally believed to be in Larnaca, Cyprus, where the Church of Ayios (Saint) Lazarus was later built (and still stands). His marble sarcophagus is reputed to still exist in this church
