I had everything going for me. Jesus got me off drugs and gave me a whole new life with a good job, a beautiful family and now I've lost my way. I've elevated my self as God, and consequently lost my job and my whole family hates me. I'm planning on going to a church that I used to attend where I felt very welcome but I'm not sure how much I should reveal as to my problems, I want to lay prostrate before the Lord but I'm so messed up I don't know how. Can anyone help me. I just want to die and get it over with.

Thanks
Mark

Why do you need to reveal at a church?
You can repent right where you are at. You don't have to do it in any church. It makes us feel better to do that and if you want, that's your choice. To God be the glory for it.
I've repented in this computer chair and received forgiveness every morning.
Our Lord and Saviour knows what's in our life and he gives us all his love.
He forgives us for our sins if we repent.
I understand about getting off drugs and a whole new life. Been there, over 20 yrs ago.
The thing to do now is give the Lord what's due to him, instead of looking at your wrongs.
We've all been forgiven at the Cross for our sins, bought & paid for by Jesus.
It's all about our Heavenly Father God, not us.

Did you forget to say "Help me Lord?"

He's always there waiting for us.If we have closed the door, he will open it again.
If we ask, we shall receive. Get into the Bible and read, pray, read, pray.
That's what I did in 83 when I was once again set free and came to know my Lord & Saviour.
Now in 08 I've rededicated myself to learning even more about my Father God.

I am praying for you.

Connie Lou

Repent-address what you have done wrong-try to fix what you have done wrong-and do the right thing one step at a time.

I'm so lost I don't know how to find my way back.

Sometimes the way back is through brokenness at the foot of the cross. When we read Psalm 51 we can see that this is similar to how David returned after adultery and murder.

Sometimes, advice from a Christian brother can encourage us to surrender our selfishness to the Lord.

Sometimes an older and wiser Christian can help us learn to trust more fully in the Lord and grow in faith.

It sounds like you could use a real heart connection to someone walking by the power of the Holy Spirit to encourage and sustain you in a personal and daily way.

If you know of anyone from a church you attended or from your family who clearly shows the light and love of Jesus in his life, you might want to consider asking him to help you know Jesus like he does.

Which would actually be a selfish thing to do. The adult thing to do is to take responsibility and face the music. You mentioned a "beautiful family" - does this mean you have children? How old are they? If you do anything to yourself, they will have to live with the knowledge that you willingly took yourself away from them, and will likely blame themselves.

Have you relapsed? Is that what the problem is? If so, are you seeking any help/support?

It's great that you came off drugs when you came to Christ, but I wonder if you ever dealt with why you started/kept drugs? In other words what emotional issues you had which was behind the drug taking. If not, it could be that those things kinda caught up with you. Relapse often happens when the person is "on top", when things are going better than they ever have.

Are you in the USA? There are likely a number of places that can offer you help. I am sure I or others here could help you locate them.

Don''t give up - where there is life, there is hope.

I'd like to reassure you that God will take you back if you really want Him to.

but...that's just it, you really need to want Him to. If you want to die, you're not going to get very far. Just know that God can still use you very much (cause He is amazing like that) and offer your self back to him. It's just like the story of the periodical son.

Worship him buy giving it all back to him.

Romans 12:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

Hey Hey Hey!

So, I need to tell you about the sermon my Pastor gave today...The title of it was "What do you do to people whose faith has faltered." The references for it were in Acts. The ones that I can remember off hand are Acts 12:12 and Acts 13:13...

He was talking about John Mark. John Mark started a journey with Paul and Barnabas...two of the greatest religious authorities of his times. During this trip John Mark decided to quit and go home. His faith had faltered. But later what happened was that John Mark wanted another opportunity and this caused a split between Paul and Barnabas. Barnabas was all about giving John Mark another try and restoring him and Paul was all about finding someone he could trust and not letting John Mark go along with them on their new journey. So as I said Paul and Barnabas separated split ways over this. Paul chose Cilas and Barnabas chose to restore John Mark...Through this John Mark became a great witness for Jesus. He spread the gospel in parts of Africa and died for Christ. Without Barnabas believing in the GOD who was in John once again...many things would be different even today...for many people...anyways...

In saying all of this... I am here to say... Your Daddy loves you and is there whenever you want to run back into His arms. He is a God of restoration and will gladly welcome you home just like in the story of the Prodigals son... Don't be shot down by other Christians or just others who may make you believe that you went too far or you did too much. God is there with His arms wide open waiting to embrace you back as His...He isn't going to avoid you, He isn't going to give you less of Him when you come back because of where you strayed and what you did, He isn't going to put you on parole...He is going to accept you back and move forward with you...

I encourage you... run back into His arms even as you read this...trust Him to restore you...He is a God of restoration...

Much love to you...

Poppy.

Hi Mark,

I want you to read this message two or three times until it sinks into your mind and heart.

I am praying for you. I don't know what situation you are really in; but I'm praying for you. Many others reading your post are praying for you too.

So don't let us down. Don't let your family down or let yourself down.

As soon as you can seek medical help; and seek professional help regarding the situation you are in. Speak to your "beautiful family" and seek their help. Speak to a pastor/preacher/priest - either in the church you used to frequent or a new church if you feel more comfortable in a new environment.

Whatever you do: DON'T just sit there feeling sorry and down-hearted. I know things may look pretty bad right now but there are plenty of people who really care for you. Not just me.

But most important of all - God cares for you and loves you. He'll help you if you let Him.

Take the first step by seeking help and God will ensure the right people come your way to help you.

God bless.

Now read this again ...

Luke 18:10-14 (NIV) 10 "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men--robbers, evildoers, adulterers--or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.' 13 "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' 14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and
he who humbles himself will be exalted."

hello mark.

i am new here but your post has moved me to reply. i have never been lost to drugs before but spend many years lost in fear. i knew god growing up and lost him as i grew older. i wanted to learn about the "other" religions and let Satan take me on a long long journey. after years i was so afraid of everything i could hardly leave my own house. i keep my children and my husband prisoner with me and always looking for that next thing that could hurt us... of course this is why i married a man that liked to stay at home, it was safe for what i needed... it took me many many years to realize WERE this fear had come from.. i had lost my faith that god was here and would protect me.. when left to man alone there is NO protection! i do not have to power to keep my children safe from speeders and drunk drivers.. i do not have the power to keep the murder and rapist from braking in my door.. this is the daily thoughts i lived with and would try to concoct safety measures to keep us all safe..

until one day i woke up and i realized the truth. i was afraid because i turned my back to god.... see here is the important thing i have learned. God never turns on us, we turn on him.

i know that i had pondered that thought for a good year, working it around in my head.. but really i was hiding. i was not good enough for god. i was a sinner and so unworthy of what he had to offer me.. i had it at one time and what did i do with it.. i threw it back at him and followed Satan around listening to him whisper in my ear that alllllll the other religions could not be wrong.. there could not be so many people being sentenced to hell.. how could god do such a thing! but it is not HIM sentencing us to hell it is are self. ... sigh i don't know why but am compelled to share this with you and i only hope that it has some meaning to you. you must know that there is nothing that we can do that god will not take us back if we humbled before him and ask for his forgiveness. he gave us jesus so that not one of us would have to be lost from him.. NOT ONE! it pains god to have you far from him, you are HIS CHILD as your child is .. your child. think of the love you fill for them and then imagine how much more god must have for us. what could your child do that would make you not love him anymore? even if you did not like the actions they had done.. could you not love them?

each of us have had moments of confusion.. being lost.. not understanding.. filling "outside" of god.. what god has put in my heart to do is to go to him with a heart full of all of that and ask him to help me. to give me the answers that i need.

its so easy mark all you have to do is sit were you are and open your heart back to god and say i am sorry lord forgive me. help me because i can not do it alone...

ask and you shall receive, it is true i have lived this now for the last year since i sat here and uttered those same words and he has lead me to the answers of every question i have brought to him.

god bless and be with you and keep you strong. i am sorry for such a long post.

I had backslide, and made some serious mistakes. I think what turmed me around was losing something significant which caused me to return to God.

It takes repenting of the things you have done, and make up in your mine it isn't the type of life you want, and you'll be fine.

As you suggested getting back into church is VERY IMPORTANT step.

Mark you are not at this forum by mistake. So many who care about you here. I think you can see that in their posts.
No matter how lost we think we are,Jesus is never far away.
He wants you to come back to him and he loves you,
He already knows everything you have done, every thought youve had,and everything you are going through.
So I say might as well sit down and have a heart to heart with him.
Repent with a humble heart and accept the love and forgivness he has for you.
As for your question about how much you should reveal to others.
I think right now it is more important you reestablish your relationship with the Lord.
Also maybe you have a close friend or pastor who can talk with you
Hey let us know how your doing.

It seems to me that you have 'come to yourself' or come to your senses again. The Father has been waiting for you...

Luke 15:17-23

And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

I only wanted to talk to the pastor, who I was once very close to. The only thing I forgot was to listen.

Thanks for the reply.

Life is a fight! I did not say struggle because if you take a real good look at all that we must do just to survive then you will understand.

If we cease to eat food or drink water for very long, we die. If we do not protect our bodies with shelter and clothing, we die. If we are unloved, we die. There is no purpose, no meaning.

God gave to you... you threw it away! You recognize it but cannot seem to gain control and make things right.

Many like yourself have to hit bottom before they change. Some hit bottom and stay there.

You must fight your way out where you are, with God's help, to have the abundant life that Jesus gave His life for. Your poor choices have proved that you need a higher power than what you thought you had.
