In Christian relationships, this seems to be common as far as it goes. How important is holding hands in a relationship? Just wondering.

I am not a hand holder, but my husband is. So I think it is a personal thing.

We hold hands a lot...in the car, church, watching TV. We even hold hands as we fall asleep. My hands are always cold and his are always warm, so it works out nicely

I think it's important. It's one of the few "safe" expressions of romantic physical affection for Christians who are dating. To me it seems like such a sweet expression of affection.

I loved holding my husbands hand!!!! We held hands all the time. In fact it felt strange if we were together and we were not holding hands. Hubby was a very affectionate person. After nearly twenty years of marriage we could practically have a nonverbal conversation with our hands. I truly miss it!!!!!

I absolutely love holding my boyfriend's hand. It's almost funny how his huge hand nearly engulfs my tiny one. But we fit together perfectly. There's just something so sweet and special about hand holding that I simply can't get enough of. Whenever we're together, it's a safe bet that my hand will be in his.

Alright. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I mean, I don't think it's important in a relationship. What's important in a relationship is Trust, Honesty, etc etc. Holding hands is just an extra bonus! :) I love holding hands. I've never dated Christians because I really was never religious. I was just dating a guy who wasn't a Christian. I broke up with him last night, which was pretty hard. Because I liked him. But when I committed my life to God, I knew I had to give up my boyfriend. But we held hands a lot because we just liked doing it, haha. It's probably one of my favorite things to do basically. & I don't know why.

There has got to be a distinctive symbol of some sort to distinguish platonic friendships from relationships with romantic intentions! Without it a woman would have little reason to believe a man is truly romantically interested in her.

The first time my first husband, as my boyfriend, even touched my hand, it sent the most pleasant shock waves through me! We were in a large, grassy field, under a tree, in Forest Park, St. Louis, MO. It was starting to sprinkle. There we were, we two, I was leaning on a tree. he reached out, took my hand, and WOW!!! Wow. And his hand was definitely not the first one I had ever held. Nine years of widowhood later, I held my present husband's hand. But I was under so much pressure. I was so scared of where a relationship might take me. So scared of men, after some disastrous dating. I feel sorry for him now, because even at the wedding, I was Scared To Death. But he liked to hold hands, and 21 years later, we still do. He likes it, especially, when I instigate it.

ORIGINAL: WaitingforBoaz Anyway that you can connect in a healthy way is important in a relationship, IMHO luv this answer and totally agree! But I think it should remain in moderation in the sense that some people are not hand-holders. So it should be done on a consistent basis in those moments of affection or leisure, but no one needs to get offended if the other takes their hand away after a bit. I've seen guys pull their hand away to check out a car or boat on display in the mall and the woman starts to pout as though that means that he's more in love with the car than her.
