(I saw you started this thread so I thought I'd move my post here!) Well I finally realized why Mary was having so much diarrhea. Her next two teeth are coming on top. I chalked it up to a virus that's going around, but she never had any other symptoms like congestion, vomiting, or fever. She did however vomit last night at 2am. She sleeps with me and changing the bed was not quite what I wanted to do at 2am. Poor girl was so confused cause she was sooo tired when it happened.

Good to hear about Hannah's success in her speech therapy. Donna, I hope Esther's fever goes down quickly. Beth is doing ok, thanks Jae. Her eating was a little off today, but we were at the zoo, so that's understandable. I had trouble feeding her modestly during lunch, but no one said anything. Nathan didn't get a proper nap, but daddy is plum tuckered out. My beautiful golden-haired boy will be 2 years old tomorrow! I think they've been the greatest 2 years of my life, quite honestly. But if it's not awful to say, as much as I love my babies, I'm really looking forward to what they'll be like as children. Nathan is talking so much more now, and I so enjoy actually interacting with him. Do you know what I mean?

ORIGINAL: artemis Malcolm had his 16 week appointment today... 16lbs 9oz! I didn't get to go because I had to work My husband said the doctor recommended we get some baby vitamins with vitamin D in them. Where can I find that? Also, Malcolm got some shots and may or may not need to take some baby Tylenol. We have some that has been sitting in the diaper bag for a few weeks (opened) Was I supposed to refrigerate that, or it is OK even though it's been open at room temperature? I'd say it's fine; I've never ever refrigerated Calpol (your Tylenol). Is there no sunshine where you are at the moment? (I don't know where you are, lol) It's just that if there's sunshine, and Malcolm is getting out in the fresh air (and sun) for at least 15-20 mins per day, I wouldn't have thought he'd need any Vitamin D. quote:
I'm so proud of my little boy. The doctor said we can start practicing with solids. Just really, really milky rice ceral of course. It's more "practice" than "necessary" at this point. I'm surprised that the doctor mentioned introducing solids, since Malcolm is almost exclusively breastfed, isn't he?

Amy, he doesn't need to practice anything at 4 months old. That's a bunch of hooey. I had an issue with our Ped this morning. She told me that Isabel should just have water at night to wean her off of her night feedings. I said she's doing fine and we aren't changing things. She was surprised. Restated the need to 'train' her not to need to eat. I said we aren't training her for anything at night right now, please move on. She didn't like that. I did. Jae - I hope things are ok now. Little Miss is a whopping 18lb 12 oz and 28 in tall! She double checked her head measurement, it's 46.7inches around. Smart girl I say.

Did you ever switch peds or is this still the same dr? quote:

The doctor said we can start practicing with solids. Just really, really milky rice ceral of course. That surprises me too. Four months seems really young. We didn't even think of cereal till 6 months or later. About the only solids I gave them were those hard teething biscuits. Mike didn't even want cereal till 8 months, he only wanted mommy milk.

We only did solids at 4.5 months with Nathan because he was nursing every 90 minutes (no, he was not "just trying to increase my supply") and I was going nuts. It was either that or formula, but he was more then ready for a bit of solids, even though he didn't sit independently for another month. Each kid is different, but I wouldn't have even bothered with milky rice cereal until 6 months if he didn't seem so ready for it. Our doc said we could give solids if I felt I had to, but we certainly did not need to.

Brandy I agree, is there another doctor you can see? This one seems to just be against everything you believe is important. Kim- glad that there is no major issues, hopefully you can get some more therapy for her! Feeding-like Ruth I started Grace "early" at about 3.5 months. Nathaniel didn't start til he was around 6 months. Each child is different. Each family is different. The major thing is waiting until they have the reflex to be able to swallow like Kim said.

My SIL is afraid of her pediatrician; she actually lies to the doc. But, it's SIL's call, not mine.

Brandy - boy, your paed would hate me. I still do night feedings if Jadon wakes up wanting one. He's almost 13 months. I'll start weaning him of that soon, but for now he's fine and I'm fine. Solids... I recommend six months as well. But, to each their own.

Josie's "schedule" for napping seems to change on a weekly basis these days. Is that okay and normal? Yup. Whenever they get into a routine, a new one is sure to come soon. How many naps is she generally taking now? Still having a morning one or has she dropped that or in process of doing so? Happy birthday, Nathan!!!! Esther is a stinker for all things sleep lately. I want to blame the crawling, but not sure that's it. Five kids and I'm still never really sure what is going on. Ha. Oh well...it's an interesting adventure every time, I guess.

Lily/Nicole: Just wanted to say (from Baby Chat 5) that your avatar of Caden is so cute! What a cute boy! Donna, she's really just shy of 19 pounds? Go, Esther! Our niece who was born the same day as Esther seems heavy to us and she's 16 pounds. Adam is a year old now (last week!!!) and he is 15 pounds, 3 ounces (which is 2.5 times his leave-the-hospital weight and not that far from that for his birth weight). WHERE IS SANDY?? Sandy has babies that are smaller for a while, right? Adam is 27.5 inches tall so he doesn't seem "small" to me but I know he is not heavy. He's a skinny tall kid. He eats plenty (nursing and solids) so I'm not concerned. I was a small toddler, too, but man, sometimes I get comments and it starts to bug me that people make comments. Amber, that is awesome about Levi crawling, and yes, PTL for physical therapy! Yay, Levi! Happy Birthday to Nathan! It is my sister's birthday today, too! Nice day for a birthday. Jeanie
