I was reading Digg articles today and came across this one[/URL] which is a parody of extremist Christians.]this one which is a parody of extremist Christians. I wasn't offended at the article itself (because The Onion is never, ever funny and the article just struck me as stupid) but I was offended at the comments Diggers left. I noticed that every single Christian-based response had been dugg down below viewing threshold, presumably by the atheist commenters who were busy railing against the 'fanatical and dumb Christians'. I have known a lot of atheists in my lifetime- I was one myself for my first 20 years, and it seemed like almost everyone at my college was one- and what I've gathered from the various arguments they've made to me against my faith is that they're too intelligent to believe in God and that Christians are too close-minded to consider the possibility that God doesn't exist. If this is so, then why did they bother to digg down (oppress) all those comments? I'm sick of close-minded people in general, regardless of religion.

I couldn't get the link to work. I agree wholeheartedly with you on the closed minded thing. The eyes may be a window to the soul, but the mind is a link to the heart.

The link does not work for me either but I will talk about the op. I'll begin by stating that Atheists have a religion of having no religion. Crusaders for that religion, need to crusade against the horror of having belief in something. Penn and Teller have a whole forum of people who would explain that to you. They also make it a point on their shows to expose their religion to convert as many people as they can. The episode on the bible was my favorite as Penn held up a bible and said basically if you believe in this by faith, then he can''t touch you in a debate. On a dating website forum I visit, there are crusaders that lash out and attack me for being an inerrantist and showing Scriptures that I think show homosexuality is a sin. They cherry pick the verses they like and just believe it is a nice book of good stories i guess. Fark.com is reallly bad...white and nerdy men line up to crusade against Christianity in that forum. It is just the way of the world - we all believe in something and stand for it. It is easy to hate the bible and everything it stands for and anybody who stands up for it. It truly is an offensive book... to those who find it foolishness and the wisdom of the world to be of more worth, as it says,

some people are absolutely ridiculous. Sometimes I feel like they are just scared to have us prove them wrong :)
