In our country today many are comforting individuals who struggle with immoral lifestyles and choices. To large issues, and two that we will likely play roles in this election year are Abortion and Homosexuality. Since this paper and this article are devoted to God’s word there is no reason to dwell on the currently terrible state that our country is in on these two issues, but it is relevant to look at how these issues have come to light in this country. Abortion became legal in the United States on January 22nd, 1973. I for one am glad that my parents did not choose their legal (not godly) given right to abort me. I was still two and ½ years from being born; this law put my life in risk. In our country we protect animals, we give rights to criminals, and many more non-logical things. Yet, when it comes to an unborn human being, one that has a beating heart and a soul, there is no right for life! Many say that abortion is not condemned in the Bible. The many are wrong (Matthew 7:13-14). The term abortion does not appear in the Bible but the definition sure does. (Revelation 21:8) “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Does God view an unborn child as a human being or would he refer to an unborn child, as does the medical field “fetus”? He not only views an unborn child as an infant, but the record indicates that he knows them. (Jeremiah 1:5) “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Notice the word “BEFORE”, in that verse. It would do a great justice to would be mothers if they walked into a clinic and had to read what God says on this matter. Maybe, just maybe that would drop the rate of legal murders in this country. In the next text we will look at, we are in need of noticing again what the Holy Writ calls an unborn infant. The infant is not called “fetus”, or any other medical term. (Luke 1:40-41) “And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost.” Abortion is so easy to have done that some women use it as a form of birth control. Where has this world’s morals gone? They have gone by the way side, and the word of God has been placed on the shelf under the immoral magazines, the Bible is just being used as a source of collection. Not a source of information collection but rather dust collection.

Dr.jlmiller, Welcome to the boards! If you'll take a moment to look around in the Morality & Ethics section, I think you'll notice threads on both homosexuality and abortion. I recommend taking your thoughts there! : )
