I discovered a great blog today, titled 'Straight Paths', that has some great posts about life lessons learned through the experiences of other people, mainly hospice patients, and how they relate to biblical wisdom and teachings. My favorite article on this site is 'He Loves Me'. I just need to get my husband to read it now :-)... you'll understand if you read it.

The post on this blog titled "A Man of Understanding" says:

“People will believe anything they want to hear or see. There are a lot of people who just listen to the preacher without studying it themselves. The fellow who wrote the song about Noah’s Arc said the animals entered by twos. But the Bible doesn’t say that. The “unclean” animals entered by twos but the “clean” animals entered by sevens; because the animals were used for sacrifices and food for Noah’s family while they were on the arc (Genesis 7). And people talk about the ‘streets of gold’, but the Bible refers to the ‘street of gold’. There is only one street. You can check it out.”

I looked these assumptions up on www.biblegateway.com and found that I had been blindly believing stories that were untrue. I had always thought that there were only pairs (meaning 2) of each animal on the ark. It seems so crazy to me that something I had always assumed to be true was actually false. Now I'm wondering... what other things have I assumed were true when they were actually false? I feel inspired to start researching these things for my self before believing in them.

Is there anyone else who also believed that these falsities were true or am I alone in my ignorance?
