American International Group got a new, $150 billion deal from the federal government on Monday, as the Federal Reserve and Treasury Department made changes to the terms of the company's original bailout. Is this money coming out of the $700 billion bailout plan or is this on top of it? How are we going to pay for all this?

This country is on a down hill slide, we provide for those who fail themselves. Why should businesses be any different than everyday people in that they want the government to cover them when they fail. We brought this on ourselves by not demanding personal responsibility of EVERYONE regardless of race, gender, or political leanings. We have desensitized ourselves to rewarding failure so much that it took a $700 billion handout to make us cringe.

Charge it please?

Let me pull up scripture. God warned us. We are currently in debt to foreign countries to the tune of 20% of our GDP...that means we will be sending alot of our weatlh to those countries and they will become stronger and us weaker. Our children and grandchildren are going to be their servants. "Just as the rich rule over the poor so the borrower is servant to the lender" Proverbs. We will work but other nations will enjoy the fruit of our labor.

Deu. 28

Curses for Disobedience
15.However, if you do not obey the LORD your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:

31.Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will eat none of it. Your donkey will be forcibly taken from you and will not be returned. Your sheep will be given to your enemies, and no one will rescue them.

32.Your sons and daughters will be given to another nation, and you will wear out your eyes watching for them day after day, powerless to lift a hand.

33.A people that you do not know will eat what your land and labor produce, and you will have nothing but cruel oppression all your days.

41.You will have sons and daughters but you will not keep them, because they will go into captivity.

43.The alien who lives among you will rise above you higher and higher, but you will sink lower and lower.

44.He will lend to you, but you will not lend to him. He will be the head, but you will be the tail.

Oh. Too bad it wasn't AIG = Answers in Genesis, lol. That might help straighten things out; but they wouldn't know what to do with THAT much money! :P

Could someone kindly check my math to see if I have this down right?

AIG is getting $150 from the government. We also have a $700 billion bailout plan that was recently passed by congress. So this means: $150 (AIG) + $700 (Bailout) = $850 billion total. Is this correct? Could someone please check my math?

This is disgusting! While regular folks are losing their homes and jobs our tax dollars are being forked over to bail out these greedy wretches?

Can't help but wonder what's going on in the AIG boardroom.

"Yeah, we've got another $150 million bailout coming. What do you wanna do with this one?"
"Oh, I don't know. But I hear there's another random conference at the Ritz-Carlton."
"Don't just stand there, make the reservations."

FYI - if your retirement account contains any guaranteed investment contracts or stable value investments, the AIG bailout is bailing you out too.

Roughly 40% or so of U.S. retirement funds reside in such investments.

Guess who is the major issuer of the investment guarantees backing those funds?

It's not just a bailout for the fat cats.

I understand the need for shorthand, but in these times I think it's worth clarifying.

I'd like to change the title of this thread to "AIG is getting $150 Billion from you and me, our kids, and our grandchildren."

Beating the dead horse I know, but governments get their money from taxation. They produce nothing. They are a drain on economic growth, not a benefit.

Any bailout, to any corporation, is only making matters worse for us. In the end, it benefits no one, and just makes the hole deeper for us to get out of.
